BUILD HELP/REQUEST - PvE - Scrapper - Martial Arts/Super Reflexes

Hi all,

I've just created a Martial Arts/Super Reflexes (SR) Scrapper. (Not a typo, Martial arts, not staff <grin>). After four+ years of game-play, this is the first time I am trying SR and I am realising just how alien it is to me. I've never played a defence-based powerset before.

Delving through the guides yields some thoughts. I'm noting a lot of the chunks for old builds won't import into MIDs as they are broken (emoticon thing I guess when the forums moved).

Is anyone kind enough to share their Scrapper Martial Arts/Super Reflexes Build?

Here's the brief:
• He'll have Superspeed, maybe combat jumping too
• Essentially a single-target scrapper
• Not hugely expensive
• Probably tough and weave
• 'Comfortable' to play.

For example, on other scrappers I'd typically set them with four Kinetic Combat and one Crushing Impact Acc/Dmg. Guessing this will work here for many of the attacks.

He'll have a six-slotted Archetype Enhancement Set (Scrapper's Strike) eventually.

I'm not wanting him to just run well at level 50, then fail when exemplared to lower levels.

• I've no idea of the best Defence sets for the secondary, or how to slot them!

Endurance management will be interesting!

He has a Celerity Stealth proc in Prestige Sprint: Surge

I think I'll give him a Knockback proc, as I am lazy and don't want to be dead if I fail to click Practised brawler (I'm not lazy, just have difficulties button mashing adroitly).

Alrighty, thanks in advance!

I've many an SR scrapper (and a couple brutes as well) but I've yet to pair it with MA personally.

Here's a link to a very recent thread (started yesterday) talking about Arcanaville's MA/SR: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=288304

On my Claws/SR I rarely use set bonuses at all for gaining the soft cap but instead use my sets to gain +max health and +regen. The needed defense comes from my power choices rather than set bonuses. My attacks are mostly 6 slotted (3 Mako/3 CI) or (3 Mako/3 ToD) on my Claws/SR or 5 slotted (Purple sets or 4 Erad/1 Oblit) depending on which attack. The toggles are LotG and passives Serendipity with Maneuvers and Weave also both LotG sets. Currently I am unable to use Mids (and it's Claws not MA) or I'd post it for you. No Hasten, I don't feel the need and generally going for more recharge means lower Health and lower passive regen which for me are a higher priority.

Thanks for the post and link, Doomguide!

I actually find the paradigm you outline in your paragraph a lot more useful than the link, though the link is very handy too. I possibly won't got for hasten, and the attack's with a high global recharge should be quite fine.

Loving your advise on the defence sets and attack set slotting, a very nice heuristic!

SR scrappers get Quickness, so you won't need to take hasten and put it on autofire.

Put Practiced Brawler on Autofire and don't worry about KB either. Sell the KB proc or email it to another toon.

I've done both in the past. I've had builds with Hasten and without. I've had either Hasten or PB on auto in the past. Currently my build does not include Hasten, but I do not put PB on auto simply because it interrupts the flow of things when it decides to activate. My build has enough overlap to give me a window of when to choose to activate PB. But every now and then I get scrapper locked and forget to activate PB and when I do the first thing that seems to happen is I get knocked on my backside (not mezzed which says something I think about the amount of kb vs mez in the game ) A -kb IO would prevent this but also might not clue me in about PB till I got mezzed rather than merely knocked on my butt. No mez means I pick myself up, still have my full defense and activate PB (and if mezzed my defense gets seriously lower do to suppression than if knocked down/back).
