Fire/Dark for Solo Play

Hello, everyone!

Altitis strikes again, and I'm curious about this combination.

I've paired Fire control with Storm before, and produced what may be my most powerful character ever. I was street sweeping Terra Volta and RWZ faster than the game could re-load the zone. Now I'm not necessarily expecting the same performance, and I do expect a Fire/Dark to play differently.

I'm just curious if this combination has the potential to solo at a reasonable pace. Now eliminating targets quickly is nice, but there is also the FUN factor.

It seems to me that Hot Feet and Tar Patch make a good combo to bring most targets to a crawl without even using other control powers. That does require that I am in melee range to some degree, and I will have to prepare for that.

What have other people experienced teaming and solo, what works for you with each set, and where did you find the FUN?

Fire Control is pretty offensive, should solo great.

in fact fire and dark go together regardless of AT

up to lvl 15, I'd probably build like this.

Don't suppose you'd be willing to post this build? It seems like an interesting combo.

For a Fire/Storm, you had better plan on one of the most endurance-hungry builds in the game. Get low level Miracle and Numina's procs to slot as soon as possible.

LOCAL MAN! The most famous hero of all. There are more newspaper stories about me than anyone else. "Local Man wins Medal of Honor." "Local Man opens Animal Shelter." "Local Man Charged with..." (Um, forget about that one.)

I'd be happy to. I just checked this character (being an older one), and noticed that she needs a Respec to take advantage of Inherent Fitness. But still good as is.

Note that Local Man makes a good point, and you need to be mindful of your End use. I rarely used Hurricane, but reserved that for a panic button. That was mainly due to having my character launch Flashfire and Freezing Rain, and then jump into the middle of the spawn with Hotfeet running. Once I got Imps, the targets just melted away.

I almost never had time to heal my Imps in combat, but used O2 Boost to prepare them for the next attack. If I had a hard mezzing enemy, then I'd O2 them right before launching my series.

I didn't have most of my defense until later. So, I counted on stunning, holding, and immobilizing them for most of her career.

Thanks again for asking, and here is the build for Ember Storme.

Personally, I'm interested in Fire/Dark. Mine is about to hit lv 14. I'm lacking in mids, but so far it's been a lovely character to play and I'm eager to see a few sample builds down the road.

So far, this is my toon's -EXTREMELY TENTATIVE- power selection plan (I can't call it a build without mids, slot allocation, and/or IO planning):

1: Char
1: Twilight Grasp
2: Fire Cages
4: Tar Patch
6: Hasten
8: Hot Feet
10: Howling Twilight
12: Flashfire
14: Super Speed
16: Shadow Fall
18: Cinders
20: Fade
22: Darkest Night
24: Combat Jumping
26: Maneuvers
28: Soul Absorption
30: Boxing
32: Fire Imps
35: Tough
38: Dark Servant
41: Weave
44: Fireball
47: Fire Blast
49: Consume

Endurance is a bit ouch, but I'm hoping that Soul Absorption and the Perf. Shifter/Miracle/Numina procs will help ease that. As the power list tells you, at level 12 A Fire/Dark can AoE stun up to Mag 5, res debuff, self-heal, and dish out some decent damage with Hot Feet and Fire Cages.

Too many alts to list.
