Replace the ToD Set

Power doesnt matter that much?

The power you put it in doesn't affect its function, so the question comes down to what would you lose from any given power by placing it there. In the case of ToD and Obliteration, you're obviously going to lose melee defense if you replace anything at all.

I have Scrappers who haven't slotted this set at all because they're built for positional defense. The extreme high-end possible with this set allowing for +10% L/S defense by splitting the Superior version of the set across two powers is a strong motivation to build for combined L/S+Range. However, I am not compelled to retool my builds for the critical bonus piece alone - I would only do it for all six pieces (as you mentioned), and even then purpled only.

Blue
American Steele: 50 BS/Inv
Nightfall: 50 DDD
Sable Slayer: 50 DM/Rgn
Fortune's Shadow: 50 Dark/Psi
WinterStrike: 47 Ice/Dev
Quantum Well: 43 Inv/EM
Twilit Destiny: 43 MA/DA
Red
Shadowslip: 50 DDC
Final Rest: 50 MA/Rgn
Abyssal Frost: 50 Ice/Dark
Golden Ember: 50 SM/FA

I think I will place set of 6 in Vengeful slice, then purple it to superior when I have enough catalyst.
All the powers got sets for S/L defense so Im only gaining a bit, but wil get better when I upgrade to purple.

This is true, one of the reasons I was always saying the defense bonuses should of been straight +defense for AT IOs, as builds can vary the defense types. It could of at the very least gave the same amount of Melee defense as it does S/L defense.

To the OP, my suggestion was just basing it off you saying you're going for S/L defense. ToD and Oblit give the same amount of S/L Defense (less the the Scrapper ATO set), but Oblit has the +RCH bonus.

Another option if you're not in need of the +RCH bonus from the Scrapper ATO set, is to split the ATO set into 3's.

Replace the Kinetic Combat's (if you're level 50 and have the set catalyzed) and use three ToD or Mako's to fill in the enhancement values (maybe add another proc to the attacks) to obtain 1.5% +HP!

If you're maxed on the 1.5% +HP set bonuses (which I doubt sense you'd be replacing Kinetic Combats), use Crushing Impacts for the 1.12% +HP.

Doing that increases your S/L Defense from +7.5% to +10% and icreases your your +HP from +3% to +9%.

That's win win!

Quick thought on slotting...

SS: ACC/DMG, ACC/DMG/RCH, DMG/END/RCH & Mako's Bite: ACC/END/RCH, ACC/DMG/END/RCH, Proc

SS Remaining Three ATOs & Mako's Bite: ACC/DMG, ACC/DMG/END/RCH, Proc

Good enhancement values and you just added damage procs to the attacks that likely lacked them.

Thanks!
I will split the ATO in 2, to get a Superior 10% increased S/L defense and more HP.
Dont need more recharge or resistances, got Spiritual Alpha T3.

Having a DB/WP at 50, I also know it doesnt take much +RCH bonuses to obtain the Blinding Fient -> Attack Vitals Combo -> Repeat for great ST DPS.

More or less ditto for my SR and Shield scrappers. The set bonuses while tasty would hurt my overall positional def a little bit.

I might do it anyway assuming I could immediately slot and purple all in one go.

On a WP scrapper the melee defense is irrelevant.

I concur with replacing the Touch of Death set. I would also replace the Obliterations with 4x boosted Eradication and a couple Scirocco's. That's because with your pathetic Energy/Negative resistance, you're going to want more defense to it.

Splitting it is a good plan as well.

I think what we're missing is the build as a whole to make some real advice. The OP may need more S/L defense to even hit the softcap.

But as a general thought when it comes to DB/WP, Id agree on using a combo of Eradication and Crushing Blow's for higher E/N Defense.

Yeah. Honestly that didn't occur to me, given that he was talking about six-slotted ToDs and Oblits, but you're right. Ideally, a WP wouldn't be built that way to start with. I maybe can see Oblits in AoEs for the smaller typed defense they offer plus the recharge. I've know people to do that, but I definitely don't see that with ToDs.

With DB as the primary, Im not sure it's needed, but the build would need to be looked at first.

My build for further advide.
I was focus on S/L defense mainly, but not worried about sofcapping because of regens and resistances:

The starting two combos aren't worth it imo. Also not sure if you're willing to go after some purple IOs.

I also tend to skip Sweep Combo on my build, but it's a good combo.

Thanks BrandX!!
No purples for this character, but I skipped nimble slash and tweaked the build a bit more.
Focused in softcap E/N.
Leviathan mastery is there for concepts, and the fact I love Water spout, and Hibernate can be handy sometimes too.
