I know you said no PvP IOs but have you checked the price on them lately? You can get the +def Gladiator Armor for 300 million now. That would be a quick way to get you an easy 3 def.

One idea is to use Scorpion Shield to give you S/L/E softcap fairly easy. Then you could try working up some of the others to levels you are comfortable with. If you got Ranged and AoE to cap, those two plus S/L/E from SS would give you rather good values vs most things. There might be a couple holes, but not much.
Have no problems using Mids.
However with Beast/FF I seem to be coming up just short. I can soft cap 2 easy. But trying for all 3 I'm just getting across 40. Used tough weave etc...
I have the pets all soft capped no problem...don't even have to use pet uniques. Little bubbles, big bubble and maneuvers does it with just SO's
Since I want to be in the think of things...I would really prefer soft capped in all positions but can accept just melee. But was hoping someone had ideas.
No pvp io's and limited purples. (most purples have no def anyway)
