MA/SR build for general use. Looking for advice please.
I'm at work right now, so no Mids, but...
1) I immediately notice is that you're missing the Steadfast Protection: Resistance/Defense IO.
2) You really don't want Kinetic Combat IO's when you should be slotting for positional defenses (M/R/AoE) instead of typed defense (S/L).
3) Move the Numina's Convalescence: Regeneration/Recovery IO into Health. You don't get the benefit it gives in Aid Self.
Thanks for that.
This is the reason I posted the build
I'm working on a modification right now.
I have a Miracle +recovery in Health right now.
I can add an extra slot into health and put the Numina +regen/+recovery in there as well?

I've amended the build a little.
I've removed 2 slots from Tough and replaced the remaining 3 with a set of Steadfast Protection.
I've then removed the 4 Kinetic Combat and added a set of Touch of Death.
I've moved the Numina +reg/rec to Health.
The positional def totals are as follows;
Melee 53.4%
Ranged 54.7%
AoE 47.3%
At the moment I can't see a way to get AoE def above 50%, although with Aid Self I have means to recover from any damage that gets through?

If I replace the Mako's Bite set in Cobra Strike with a set of Razzle Dazzle, the positional def totals change to the following
Melee 55.9%
Ranged 50.9%
AoE 49.8%
A gain of 2.5% def on melee and AoE with a stun duration increase of 7.5 seconds, versus a drop of 3.8% ranged def and 130 less damage.
I'd be inclined to stick with the Mako set in Cobra strike and see how that goes.

One more thing to keep in mind. 45% is the softcap for defense, anything above that does not make you harder to hit, with only exceptions being enemies with to hit buffs or defense debuffs. (ex: Nemesis, Devouring Earth) For incarnate level enemies the soft cap is 59%. If you see yourself playing a lot of incarnate level content, the IO set defense bonuses will be useful. If you're looking for something more like an all around build, you may want to choose other set bonuses.
Good point on the softcap, but I have already unlocked the Alpha on the character and will more than likely be running incarnate content quite often.
The incarnate powers will be particularly useful on this character I think

Ok. Looking over the build again one more time...
-I'd get a few more LotG +7.5% Rech IO's when you can. (If you're on a budget, don't worry about it too much.)
-I recommend the Achilles' Heel: Chance for Resistance Debuff IO for Crippling Axe Kick, suggesting swapping it for the Touch of Death proc IO.
-I'd rework the slotting for Evasion. Needs more EndRedux.
-I'd drop the Steadfast KB IO. One KB Protection IO and Practiced Brawler gives you enough KB Protection, you don't need anymore. I suggest more EndRedux or a Res/End IO if you're using Tough frequently.
-and finally...Swap a EndMod IO in Stamina for one Performance Shifter: Chance for +Endurance IO. Two EndMod IO's get you to the point of Diminishing Returns. Also you can slot another one in Phys. Perfection because it isn't a unique.
Aid self and aid other are not worth the power seletion. Pick up manuevers and tactics instead. drop two slots from weave and 6 slot tactics instead with gaussians. get another lotg rechg in manuevers and a second slot if you've got it for lotg def/end. cobra strike, if I remember, is intended as a stun and is pretty low damage, not worth a full set of mako's. deslot that power in favor of maybe 6 slotting dodge with red fortune for the range def boost. if you've extra slots, 5 slot tough with aegis and 1 slot for steadgast's def for more AoE def. At work as well so just some cursory suggestions. I see you didn't take elude... consider that instead of cobra strike but that depends on playstyle.
I perosnally slot my SR for 50% since there is no resistance backup so if you're fighting anything higher level, the extra def pays off.
Edit: Take one slot out of stamina and two slot performance shifter, the end mod and the proc, I think you will get better results that way.
Edit 2: Do not slot fly with fly speed... or the kb protection. I think those slots are better served elsewhere. Use the auto slot for end reduction cause I think fly speed is capped with a flight speed in swift, but someone can correct me here.

I'll rework the build accordingly - thanks.
Evasion has 42% endredux. I think I can up this slightly a bit with LotG
Cobra Strike was originally a minor dam melee attack that stunned, but was changed to high damage/stun a few issues ago I think.
Slotted with a set of Mako's it gives 570 damage.

Just realized that would remove the melee def. bonus, so unless you rework the build entirely you may not want it.

I'm undecided about taking the aid self power - or not. I'll be doing a lot of Incarnate content at, so I do anticipate the odd hit getting past the softcap.

If you're still looking to hit 50% AoE Defense, my suggestion you would be to switch Air Superiority for Hover and move the slots over to Tough so it's six slotted. 5 Aegis set IO's and the Steadfast Protection Res/+Def IO. I think you would have enough attacks and recharge to maintain a decent DPS attack chain. You would end up sacking some melee defense but you are well over the softcap anyway. I got home late yesterday so I couldn't look at the build in Mids, I'll try to work something up when I get home today.
The question is why are we looking for 50% defense on /SR? For incarnate trials you'll still need purples or outside buffs to hit 59% (the iTrial soft cap) and for anything else 50% is a good 2 to 4% more than you really need do to your DDR (which should be at 95% ... no Mids for me to see but looks like it should be). Defense Debuffs should not be a worry (i.e getting hit by a 50% defense debuff will net your foe a loss of 2.5% off your positions). To Hit buffed foes are another story altogether, that's what makes DE and vengeance fueled Nemesis hazardous!
You should anticipate getting hit even at the soft cap but ideally not often enough to need Aid Self. Your passive regen or the occasional green should be plenty (and be faster, more reliable and cost less end). For Incarnate work I'd pickup Rebirth for the +regen. While my /SR has Aid Self and Aid Another both are more set mules for 3 slotted Numina's (for the +max health and +regen). In thousands of hours playing time I can count on one hand the number of times Aid Self has made the difference between dead scrapper and not. I do use it occasionally but mostly to heal up a bit and lower downtime than for staying upright. As a footnote my claws/SR is sitting around 29% passive regen and 1950 or so health with build plans to push both a little higher yet.
If you need slots you could get one from each passive. 2 common defense IO's in each should be enough. ED is hitting the 3rd one pretty hard (and you are at 50% you don't need to eek out that extra tiny bit). And if you really feel you do there's always boosters. Personally mine 3 slots Serendipity for the extra +max health and +regen. Once you hit about 47% defense I'd be looking for +max health and +regen (max health will also net more regen) over other set bonuses especially +defense.
Ok. Worked with what you've given me and considering the advice that Doomguide gave that I do agree with, this is what I came up with. Doomguide's right in that the extra HP will go farther than the extra defense will when you can just pop a small purple inspiration just to get to the iDefense softcap.

I made this character several years ago and it's been sitting unused for a very long time.
So ... I though I'd blow the cobwebs off and try and see if I can get a good overall build for general use using IO's.
The emphasis is on staying upright and dealing a decent amount of damage.
I looked at other builds on the forum and tried to draw on (what I think will be) the good points of those builds.
I'm looking for any advice on the build before I go ahead and build it.
Have I missed anything obvious or went the wrong way with something etc?
