Anyone up for a RAM swap?

So I'm working on upgrading my dinosaur, and what do I do? I buy the wrong RAM at an independently owned computer shop with a terrible return policy.Long story short, I have two brand new and unopened 1 gb sticks of DDR2 that I'd like to trade for two 1 gb sticks of PC2700, used or otherwise. If anyone here can help me out, that'd be great.

if the ram is braded by kingston or crusal i would call them up and see if they let you rma back for a swap. if not if you used a credit card or a bank card call them up and file a charge back. most local computers stores if the boxes are still sealed they should just swap them out. most little vendors buy a box of ram for kingston or 3 party source and drop them into little pink anti static bags.

Even hole in the wall mom'n'pop stores should allow for exchange and if they don't I'd recomend pushing the issue a bit. It's not like you bought software, burnt it to CD, and then tried returning it. So long as you're exchanging for same type item they shouldn't hassle you since you're likely doing an even value swap (IE: no money back).

Credit card company won't refund if you have purchased the wrong item (unless is it wrongly described at least).
The credit card protection applies where the company you have purchased from fails to meet their contractual obligations and will only apply once a value threshold is passed - in the UK thats £100 and no way will two sticks of RAM reach that unless you bought other things in the same transaction.

Having said that most companies realise that is makes good business sense to offer refunds or more likely exchange or credit where the customer has made a mistake - they may well charge a restocking fee however.

If you had asked the company for RAM suitable for your system then them supplying something that isn't suitable without warning you would constitute misrepresentation in which case they would be legally obligated to refund you all your reasonable expenses. If you had asked for DDR2 ram and received that then the principle of caveat emptor applies.

They actually had a 7 day return policy, but I was not able to make it back to the store in time to meet the deadline- Unfortunately they were closed on Sundays which was the only day I'd have been able to make it as the place was almost an hour from my house. I just happened to pass by while running errands and dropped by on a whim. Anyways this was about a month and a half ago and the RAM has been sitting on my desk unopened ever since, I finally decided to give it a try and post here in case anyone had an old and unused dinosaur running PC2700 and could use the DDR2. *shrug*

Okay, DDR2 is a type of RAM.
PC2700 is a particular speed bin of RAM.

I take it what you ACTUALLY need is 2 sticks of DDR1 333Mhz (or better) SDRAM right?

Smack away. I actually tried posting it on Ebay, but I think I expected to get too high a percentage of my money back, because I didn't get a single bid, heh. I wanted to turn to Paragon City and the Rogue Isles before I resorted to Craigslist or something like that, since that place makes me uncomfortable.

Actually, you can get away with DDR400 too. It'll run at the lower speeds.
