Fire ^3 Softcapped Range Permadom
I have no help to offer. I do want to thank you though. This will be my next experiment in looking for my ranged character.
If cost if no object, I have a fire/fire/fire permadom that is softcapped s/l (better IMO than ranged given the melee nature of fire/ and the fact that permadoms already get mez resistance) in a thread around here.
I note you only got to 40% ranged def as well w/o incarnates. (Edit: I see you wanted the hold set to be the new ATO one which gives you 5%.)
I think if you want an all-ranged build, mind/fire is a better bet. Getting a fire control character without hot feet just seems criminal somehow to me. Skipping out on both hot feet and combustion is lowering your AOE mayhem potential too much IMO. Can you redo it as a mind/fire?

While a good amount of attacks are S/L, a LOT are also some other kind of damage type without a S/L vector. Given a fire doms low HP and low resistance, each unmezzed enemy that has a energy or fire attack will put you through a lot of pain. Ranged defense doesn't run into this problem, since anything that is thrown at you is inherently "ranged".
Plus, defense debuffs (which can and will leave you defenseless once the defense crash cascade happens) almost always take the range vector, so S/L defenses won't do anything to prevent debuffs. Which will then take away all your S/L defense too.
And while hot feet is good damage- it's also the ultimate endurance hog. You're basically forced into Ageless and maybe even a Cardiac if you want to run a lot of other toggles, limiting your options. And since I assume you're using it for damage, its other effects are useless since fear or slow don't matter with fire cages.
And combustion... I wouldn't use it even if I was blapping (I was originally S/L cap with hot feet, and I still respecced out combustion). Combustion is just... BAD. A 3 second cast time for minimal damage, most of which is done in ticks over an extended duration? You can do a lot of other things in 3 seconds. Even fire breath would be better, it at least does a lot more damage.

The basic play-style of this dom is throw down a flashfire then fire cages, rain of fire, fireball (all the minions should now be dead soon, and the LTs. will take one or so more fireball), and then start knocking out bosses with blaze-blast-char.
Cinders is useful in an emergency or just an extra hold.
The single target chain is amazing, IMO. Embrace of fire, musculature T4, Dominator ATO proc, and assault is just delicious paired with the most broken ST target blast out there (Blaze).
If you want a bit extra AoE, you could drop Blazing Bolt (which I don't use obviously- just as a set mule for Sting of the Manticore), take fire breath and put in a positron. You'll lose a bit of range defense though, but get a decent ranged cone that hits HARD but has a slow activation.
And make sure to keep the imps up! Along with a huge damage boost they also soak up damage for you, and recharge so fast you don't have to worry about them dying.
Just a word of caution, on teams its tempting to become a blaster and start throwing fireballs, but in general make sure things are mezzed and not making your defenders faceplant first before you start blasting!
Can someone critique/help me improve my current build? I'm a min/max kind of player who likes to only play on a few characters, and this Fire/Fire/Fire dominator has been my main toon for all of my time in this game.
Cost is NOT an issue.

Set Bonus Totals:
Replace the Unbreakable Constraint set in Char with the entire Superior Ascendency of the Dominator ATO set. The superior ATO set gives 5% more Range defense and 2.5 E/N, along with 10% recharge and other goodies.
With enhancement boosters on the Luck of the Gamblers in Weave and Maneuvers, I get 45% Range Defense. That's with 127.5% global recharge, which gives me permadom without hasten (although I still run hasten, of course)
Single Target chain:
Blaze-Blast-Char (Blaze has a range IO in it to help make it more hover-blaster friendly)
AoEs: Rain of Fire, Fireball. RoF actually becomes an AoE monster with fire cages and reactive interface.
Destiny: Ageless if I want to toggle Fire Shield/Tough/Assault, otherwise rebirth.
Any build gurus want to help me out here?
