Making a new character in Going Rogue... (Titan Weapons questions)
Basically the main problem with titan weapons is that every single power in titan weapons apart from build momentum and taunt is exemplary in some way. It has amazing aoe, amazing single target attacks, fantastic speed, colossal range and stupid mitigation. To put it another way, it is a set full of long-recharge, endurance-expensive powers. You're going to want to counter that in some way, and by want to I mean have to.
As an example, one of the most popular pairings I've seen is TW/Elec brutes. Why is that? Because people wrongly think brutes are best and rightly think that electric armor is great for endurance management and bonus recharge.
Every attack in the set is good. The most skippable one, oddly, is defensive sweep, a tier 1 cone power that costs less endurance than it should and grants you a large melee/smashing defense bonus if it makes contact. The reason it's skippable is that you can build for enough defense that it's redundant and the rest of the set is so incredible for DPA that defensive sweep's relatively modest numbers don't compare.
It's hard to think of what else to say without knowing what secondaries you're interested in. Titan weapons: It's stellar, it's complex. Its strengths are contingent on the rest of what you want to do. Oh, and yep, travel powers at level 4. Nice eh?
It's kind of hard to figure out where to go with it, lol. I'm open to any secondary set (Aside from Shield Defense, of course!). I've already made a Willpower and a Regen Hero, though; maybe Super Reflexes or one of the stranger powers, or something with a techy aesthetic? I'm not so sure.
For the sake of simplicity: Energy Aura, Super Reflexes, Invulnerability, and Electric Armor are secondary sets I'm interested in.
For a scrapper, I'd choose /EA out of those 4. TW/Elec is also excellent, but I personally prefer that on a brute. /SR or /Inv would be workable, but would struggle much more with endurance problems.
PleaseRecycle is right, though - every attack in TW is good. Most builds will end up skipping either Crushing Blow or Defensive Sweep, and tight builds might also consider skipping Titan Sweep, although preferably you'd want to avoid that. The rest of the attacks should not be skipped in a final build, but you might end up skipping something (probably Rend Armor) while leveling when slots are tight, or taking it and just leaving it with the base slot for a while. Build Momentum is also important. Confront, as always, is rather unnecessary.
Hi, it's been a long time since I've played CoH; 3 years, in fact! So, when I heard that new powersets were out for Scrappers, of course I was interested!
An initial glance at the guide thread didn't find me any Titan Weapon basics, so if anyone could give me a basic jist of what's good, what's not in the set, and what it works well with, I'd be grateful; also, any idea of when is good to get certain things, i.e. travel powers and the new powers like Burnout; I hear that they've lowered the travel power cap to 4 now?
