remaking an old Hero of mine, need some advice
Higher Max HP is going to have a very large effect on how much HP/second you regain, as regen is a % of max HP.
Then again, the Scrapper will benefit more from the +damage buffs of Soul Drain.

Anywhere you can exceed the resistance cap of a Scrapper (75%), the survivability edge a Brute has becomes enormous.
Anywhere you can get excessive, long term damage buffs, the offense edge a Scrapper has becomes enormous.
There are plenty of other differences to consider as well. A Scrapper will always put out the same damage, every time. The Brute has to build his fury, and however easy that may be, it still has to be done. Scrappers simply don't get Super Strength. Brutes cannot get Shadow Meld. Scrapper damage auras do not have taunt components. Brutes are often expected to tank. The Claws power set works differently for each AT.
So yes, it all depends on what you want out of the character.

I play a DM/Regen Scrapper on Freedom. He was my main forever, and since I recently came back about 2 months ago I've re-built and re-learned how to play him. I cannot vouch for the combo as a Brute, though I would imagine its quite good, but as a Scrapper, I LOVE it. Very solid single target DPS and am pretty unstoppable.
I don't think you can go wrong either way, though if you wanted to tank, I think the single-target focus of DM might be a bit lacking.
The answer to your main question, though, is yes, this is still a fun combo.
- Xyzor, Lightning.Rod, Kagyx - Rubber Mulch / Wholesale Candy - Freedom Server
You know what is worth mentioning, though, is that the play style is VERY different than it was back in the day. Not sure how long ago you played your DM/Regen, but I had left around Issue #3 and came back right around #21.5. Originally, Regen was very much a set-and-forget toggle-heavy Power Set. Now it is the exact opposite. Your heals and defensive powers are largely reactive clicks.
I think good players see better rewards now, but you have to pay a bit more attention (only in really high-end content, though - you can still cut through regular content easily with anything even approaching a good build).

I had a DM/Regen scrapper back when I played on Freedom and would love to remake him on my new home server (virtue) But now Im wondering if this combo still good on a scrapper? Or would Brute be the better choice, either one first my concept. is there a major difference other than the higher hp on a brute? All advice would be much appreciated.
