Advice for Claws/Regen

So my wife would like help with her Claws/Regen Scrapper. I have never played Claws so I am not sure if I chose wisely for powers, slots or enhancements. Any advice would be very welcome. She said she wants her toon to be really good. Which I take to mean she wants to be very survivable with decent damage and recharge. I also didn't want to put too many purples cuz she doesn't play a lot and it would take forever for her to earn them all. So without suggesting purples any suggestions for improvements would be appreciated. Here is the build

Any */Regen you want to be survivable, you want to pack in Recharge; Recharge; Recharge; Health; and more Recharge, then worry about everything else. The primary attacks: Strike - Slash - Focus - Follow Up - Spin. Shockwave is really great against +4 when critters are resistant to Knockback and revert to Knockdown. Key IO's for Regen: Doctored Wounds in Dull Pain and Reconstruction. Trifecta of Numina's in Fast Healing/Integration/Health for set bonuses.

Try and also work in 32.5% Smashing/Lethal defense. 45% is far too difficult to successfully achieve, and 32.5% will put you one small purple inspiration from 45%. Additionally, Shadow Meld is a great PPP tool for pushing defense and alternating it's use around Moment of Glory to spend more time in high-levels of defense.

Here's a good example using no Purples/PvP/Hami-O's, and only carrying the Spiritual Alpha for Rech/Heal:

Interesting build, I notice you have no travel power. Do you just use the temps? Also if you are going for recharge, wouldn't Doctored Wounds be better?

Maybe something more like this? This build gets quite a bit more defense, a bit more recharge, a bit less regen. I changed some power choices, and dropped eviscerate not so much because it's a bad power as I wanted the slots elsewhere. Revive is pretty crummy though, you're better off just glee-mailing (lol) yourself a couple of wakies in case you don't have one when you need it. Shadow Meld is kind of a mini MoG, and quick cycling.

Not the greatest build, but tried to keep the original build's flavor. I'd be tempted to grab maneuvers, but couldn't decide what to drop for it. Grabbed SS assuming you wanted stealth, you could maybe drop one of the redundant travel powers for it, and grab slots from resilience... anyway, here it is. Hope you get something useful from it.

That looks pretty good EJI ... I can definitely work with that. I swapped out fly for maneuvers like you suggested and figure she can use temp powers to fly when she needs to. Also there is definite room for improvement with purples down the line if she wants. Thanks for the effort.

I don't really consider Ninja/Beast/Steam "Temps" more as "Purchased permenant travel powers." But, yes, I use those pretty much exclusively unless there's a conceptual reason to take just the travel itself. And, no, Doctored Wounds isn't really "Better". It's cheap and easy to get a hold of, but there's better ways to slot */Regen then with Doctored Wounds if you can get away with it. On a no-purples build, sure, stick D.W.'s in Reconstruction and Dull Pain, but I wouldn't use it anywhere else as Numina's has far better set bonuses (+Regen, +HP).

And, I don't really want to sound Caddy on it, but comparatively to the last build you posted, the one I tossed up has far more Regen/HP going for it. Granted Dull Pain does over-cap HP in either case, having a higher starting HP tends to be better. Also, with the way I slotted out and global-hunted for bonuses, Follow Up was only ~.3/s off of a FU>Focus>Slash chain. This isn't really a "big deal", but I want to point out these are things to keep an eye out for with slotting. Follow-Up deserves 6-Slots, not five.

I'm in no way trying to say one build is better than another, but definitely want the build-knowledge to come through to help your further investments. I will admit, I drive my friends insane with some of the small things I consistently do in builds that seem "insane" some times, but end up with huge benefits.

Yes I wouldn't consider those travel powers temps either. I just didn't really know about them until I researched them tonight. A great way to save some power choices to be sure. Are they as fast as the regular travel powers?

Thanks for the clarification about your choices and slotting. I am definitely going to look at the build you posted again. I still am not sure about the DW vs. Numina ... I have always believed on a */Regen that Recharge is the #1 priority. Keeping IH, DP and the other heals up as often as possible. Something to look into for sure.

This is my build, after a lot of tweaking...for my level 50 claws/regen....

A couple of notes...

(1) integration has 4 doctored wounds in it...i had 5 set bonuses of 5% recharge because of the oblits sets and so I used the slot elsewhere...

(2) the defense is 33% S/L so one small purple insp will get you to softcap

(3) Turn incarnates and accolades on, DP, Hasten, and all toggles, then check totals...

(4) hasten and DP are perma on this build

(5) Kinetic Combat sets and Reactive armor sets will help you get to the magic 32-33% S/L Def...as well as some of the other sets I used.

(6) If or when you need it, this build will cap regen rate at 3000% with IH and rebirth running with DP up and running that will put you regenerating 301.2 HP/sec until rebirth starts to decay...(approx 20-30 seconds...then drop off around 2800% and decay from there...)

(7) IH is down for 83 seconds after 90 second activation...I couldn't get closer without sacrificing things I wanted in this build...

More than a couple +HP bonuses are useless on a /Regen once you cross the threshold of perma-Dull Pain.

I had a bunch of them on an old build, and I noticed that when Dull Pain was active (100% of the time if I wanted it to be) I was actually losing a couple hundred HP from set bonuses I crammed in. I rethought my build shortly after that.

Yeah, I know...really all of the HP bonuses on this build are there because I was chasing another bonus in a set that happened to have it...like the Def bonuses from Kinetic Combat happened to come after the HP bonus in the set...and of course the purple set, I was chasing the recharge bonus...
