Help wtih a Defender

I've built a Rad/Ice Defender, Angel of Mons who recently dinged 50.

I'm not good with fenders - she's only my 3rd defender 50 but I like the concept and it seems to be well received on teams - but is highly end heavy

I've got loads of respecs left and a reasonable stack of inf for a good build - but I'm not intending to make an "uber" build or purple it out... a reasonable mix of support, damage and survivabilty - something I'd not achieved much on the way to 50. She's squishy (could be my playstyle)

Any thoughts/input welcome

It would really help to see a Mids build here, but off the top of my head the first things that come to mind are whether or not you have adequate endurance reduction in your attacks and what Alpha you are using. I'm also curious which ancillary pool you went with as there are some endurance management tools available there.

Not to be a total build, but a couple of things I'd do. (Buy recipes and craft yourself to save money is generally the best idea).

1.) I'd grab the Numina and Miracle uniques and put them in health. Both will give you some extra +recovery. You might as well get those via A-merits.

2.) I'd put the Performance Shifter Proc in Stamina as the third slot. A-merits are good for this, too.

3.) Positron's Blast 5-slotted in your TAOE powers. If you are flexible about level, this won't set you back too much (anything 41+ is basically fine).

4.) Thunderstrike (6 for ranged defense) or Decimation (5 for recharge) in ranged attacks. Thunderstrikes same as Posi's, but might as well get Decimation at max level.

5.) Basilisk's Gaze 4 slotted in your holds. Might as well get max level.

6.) -KB IOs are nice, as is the Steadfast Protection +3% def if you can stack it with extra +def from power pool picks or set bonuses.

7.) If you have the powers to put them in, the LOTG +7.5% global recharge is nice (you can get its bonus up to 5x, and also get 5 other 7.5% bonuses from other sources). I'd get them with A-merits.

Pretty much any build you get is going to include some form of the above sets. Bidding patiently will get some some of them, but for others doing tips or SSA for alignment merits is the way to go.

You also want to make sure you get the +endurance and +HP accolades (as well as any of the other ones that look fun)

Recieved the Atlas Medallion is pretty easy to get. The others are a little tougher, but definately worth seeking out.

Thanks for the input.

I've not yet done a Mids yet, I was hoping for "general principle" I guess but I could certainly do that.

I took my modernish Rad/dark, substituted ice, ramped up the sets on some blasts (ice vs. dark). I went for max recharge, some mezz protection, some psy damage protection. The idea on my rad is to rush/tp in with choking cloud on, hit Buildup EM Pulse: BAM insta-hold.

Warning. On teams where tanks cannot count to 15 and there is a huge pull, you can and WILL pull a ton of aggro. This is where surprise, total inviz (SS+stealth) and the cloud will help.

I like to play melee-fenders. Controllers and defense buffers are your friend.
