Lord of Winter Trial badly broken

Last night I formed a Lord of Winter Trial, when we zoned, all the teams were jumbled badly, and I had lost the league leader status. it took around 1 minute or so to get everything put back where lowbie characters weren't leading teams of 50s (or solo).

We also lost a player who was kicked from the team when we zoned.

For his sake I spent another 30 minutes forming another Trial only to have him and one other get kicked.

the LFG method for this event sucks and needs to be reverted back to the way it was. It takes upwards of an hour or recruiting for a 10-15 minute trial, that is stupid. Never had an issue getting people together to fight the winter lords then click the package afterwards... and you knew upfront if you had enough to complete the trial.

It wasn't broke, it didn't need fixing...

The LFG tab does not allow some of my characters to select DFB or the Holiday Trial. It may not allow any of my characters to select any trial, but it's been a while since I've lead an Incarnate Trial.

The behaviour described in the OP happens when the league is set to private. I would avoid using that option tbh, it only saves 90 seconds and causes no end of problems.

What appears to happen is that the 1st few fastest people to zone in get on the 1st and maybe 2nd team, and then everyone else ends up on their own team. There's a suspicion among players I know that anyone who would be slotted into their own team after there are already 6 gets booted from the event.

Don't lock the event. Not the teams, that has nothing to do with it. There's an option on the LFG window that the leader sets for locking the event. Don't do it.

The worst that happens with open events is that the team order may get jumbled, but that's it. People within the teams stay in the same relative positions, so the team leaders are preserved in those spots. And, as far as I know, no one gets kicked.

ok, that may be what happened, so that "fixes" the complaint. I still think it needs to go back to the old way of forming though...

Oh, you've reported a completely valid bug/complaint, IMO. We're just offering a solid work-around. There's no way on earth it should be cool that closed leagues work this way. In fact, they didn't always do this. They broke them in this particular way a couple of patches after they were first released.

This is a bug that has been affecting all trials using multi team leagues for some months now and has been widely reported.
When the league enters the trial all teams will be disbanded and will be recreated as people zone in. The first person to zone in will get league leader status, and then the teams should build back up as they were originally hower its this recreating of them that is broken.
The league leadership is mostly annoying as the person getting it probably isn't set up to display everyone and so it can take a while to locate the original league leader in the team lists and promote them so they can restore the teams.

The team leader changing isn't such a problem on iTrials as everyone has to be 50 anyway, the Hallowe'en trial also set the team level so it wouldn't have been an issue there either. You may have highlighted a problem which may have been seen as minimal impact previously but if new trials don't impose a level it will have a greater impact.
