Critique my Robotics / Sonic Resonance Mastermind!

One of the first considerations for any Sonic Resonance build is endurance. Keeping Sonic Dispersion and Disruption Field going all the time takes a massive bite out of your resources. Everything is slotted for at least some endurance efficiency, and I have attempted to squeeze in +Recovery and Max End wherever I could.

My Mastermind is pretty durable due to low aggro and bodyguard mode. It's his pets that need protection, and he only gets into trouble when they get destroyed. So, instead of maximizing the Mastermind's ranged defense with set bonuses, I am trying to keep my pets alive longer. The Protector Bots can cast better bubbles and I included the defense and resistance uniques in Battle Drones. Photon Grenade and Liquify are both configured for crowd control rather than damage. Heal Other and Repair are both slotted for serious use.

There are some situations that are just extremely bad for Mastermind pets... the sabotage portion of Lambda Sector comes to mind. I'm hoping that the Celerity stealth proc will allow me to tag along and provide buffs if I have to go petless.

The last time I played a Mastermind with healing pets was years ago, and it was widely believed that you should NOT slot them with healing enhancements. The theory went that the pets would only use their heal if the target could benefit from all of it, and if their heal was too big they simply wouldn't use it until it was too late. Is that still the current conventional wisdom? I might try replacing the second +Def IO in Protector Bots with a Heal or Stun.

Although I do have a /Sonic Corruptor with Liquify, I'm never really certain what the best slotting for it is. Due to its glacial recharge speed I tend to save it for emergencies.

For Liquefy, don't slot the hold, it's pathetically short in duration to begin with and not terribly reliable. I slot the -To Hit (Dark Watcher's Despair), then I'd likely put the Achille's -Res proc and some other proc or a plain old Recharge IO.

Not much else I can say as I don't have Mids at work.

Hi Bill, I copied & pasted these details from in-game. When you see '------>', that is me adding a comment.

Liquefy as used by a level 50 Mastermind:

Average Damage:21.13
Damage Per Activation Time:7.91
Damage Per Cast Cycle:0.14 (0.07)------>When you see 2 numbers like this, ignore the 1st number. That is my build's number being reflected after accounting for enhancements, Alpha Slot, ect.
Activation Time:2.67s
Recharge Time:2m 31s (5m 0s)
Endurance Cost:17.59 (23.40)
Accuracy:1.60X (1.00X)
Available Level:38
Power Type:Click
Target Type:Location
Power Range:72.00 ft. (60.00 ft.)
Effect Area:Location

3.00% chance for 0.67 magnitude knockback on target------>This is incorrect. Its more like 70% chance...
-31.63% (-25.00%) defense for 30.50s on target
-25.00% to hit for 30.50s on target
-20.00% strength to recharge for 30.50s on target Ignores buffs and enhancements
-50000.00% jump height for 30.50s on target Ignores buffs and enhancements
10.00 fly protection for 30.50s(30.50s) on target Ignores buffs and enhancements------>This is how the game shows -Fly.
2.00 magnitude hold for 8.80s(4.47s) on target
10.57 smashing damage on target
10.57 energy damage on target
10.00 fly protection for 3.50s(3.50s) on target Ignores buffs and enhancements

Just curious, what are your plans for using Sonic Repulsion?

My rule of thumb for Liquefy slotting - Make it work for you. That is, whatever gives the most advantageous bonuses is how I slot Liquefy. I think it's just up too rarely to slot just for optimizing it. Frequently that involves some Cloud Senses, or Dark Watchers, or perhaps Siphon Insight, depends on what I want to emphasize.

Here's some general thoughts, not really leading to any conclusion...

That's a lot of slots in Fly. Are you going to use Fly in combat?

I think the Devastation hold procs may be more interesting to use in your ST blasts than the current Deva enhancers.

The conventional wisdom for kb is go for 4 points for 99% coverage, 12 points if you want 99.9% coverage (the percentages aren't part of the "conventional wisdom", I made those up). But the thinking is, there's not a lot of kb between 4 and 8 points. Most tends to be 4 or less, or more than 8.

Purely as a thought exercise, I whipped up how I think I'd make a bots/sonic, since I'm a bots enthusiast and, believe it or not, one of the game's few Sonic enthusiasts.

Some highlights:

With 1 bot bubble, 46% ranged def
Hard capped s/l resists

Yeah, there are some purples in there, but they're the cheapish ones. I'm sure the health uniques cost more than any of the purples I have (note - I may be wrong).

Note - I'm not saying this would be better for the OP, I'm just saying this is probably what I would make that would satisfy my playstyle.

My plans for this character got derailed during the holidays, and I never even responded to my own thread. However, I have recently dusted off my Robot/Sonic Mastermind for some more gratuitous violence, and I have some more data to report.

Liquify
My Mastermind now has 6-slotted Liquify and I've been experimenting with it. It's slotted with 3 Recharge SOs and 3 of whatever I feel like testing. With 3 Damage SOs it's still not a nuke. With 3 knockback SOs it still can't prevent mobs from leaving as soon as the Assault Bot's burn patch goes down. Although the hold is only Mag 2, slotting it for hold does at least make it last long enough to be noticeable. Maybe debuffs are the only really practical slotting.
In general, I am not finding Liquify to be as useful on my Mastermind as it was on my Corruptor. My pets' will usually get aggro right about the time I am close enough to drop it (need to slot for range). Then their knockback often blows targets completely out of the Liquify patch. Once the patch is vacant, I can run over and stand in it to protect myself from melee attackers, but it's not ideal. I've actually pondered dropping it.

Sonic Repulsion
Knockback is a perfectly valid form of crowd control, and that's what I use it for, mostly while soloing. Since robots are not especially melee-oriented, I will usually keep it running on a Protector Bot. The pet is protected from melee attacks, and I can jump behind it to protect myself. You can park a pet with Sonic Repulsion in a doorway to keep the mobs on the other side. Sometimes if I am really losing robots and need more control I will keep giving a Repelling pet "Go To" orders and make him play bumper cars with the enemy mobs until they can be defeated.
If you name one of your pets "Bouncer" for example, and then "/bind tilde petcom_name Bouncer Goto" you can quickly and easily send your chosen pet scurrying around to deliver some crowd control. Just remember to put him back on follow afterwards.
I've also found that on most 8-player teams there is someone who actually likes having Repel... the Corruptor or Defender who keeps getting beaten down by melee attackers, or even the Kheldian who only seems to play in Nova form.

Fly
Ideally, I would not be using Fly in combat due to endurance issues. Even so, I often find myself doing exactly that so the crazed Brute that I've anchored with Sonic Disruption cannot race ahead of me and break the link.

Budget
Pretty-much all of my characters have the same uniques in Health and Fitness, always purchased with merits rather than cash. Thanks to the signature story arcs, these are really pretty quick and easy to acquire. Purples and Hami-O's are possible, but only if this character becomes one of my mains that I spend a lot of time on.

Hold Procs for Pulse Rifle
I would like to get my pulse rifle attacks to recharge fast enough that they actually feel like an attack chain, and have enough endurance cost reduction that they don't cripple me. Of course their damage is feeble so procs may be the best way to make them useful. If my pets had a hold attack I could stack with, that would be excellent.

Deacon NA's Build
The forum benefits from more discussion of odd combinations like Robots/Sonic even if my own plans are moving in the opposite direction... trying to protect my pets rather than just the Mastermind.
