Problems entering bases

Recently I have started experencing the problme that when ever I try to enter a supergroup base, the game freezes for me. I get to the loading-screen, and it starts loading, the loadbar will then go up to the righmost sign, and the game will stop responding. This happens both on Defiant and Exalted.

A friend of mine who was a member of the same supergroups could enter the bases without any problems.

The problem started after doing a long-needed update on Win XP, as well as updating the graphics-drivers to the latest drivers (the game complained that I was using too old drivers). for my Nvidia GeForce 8600 GTS.

Anyone have any ideas?

Don't try to enter your base. *badumptish*

Oh, an idea that might help? Well, for that, more information would be helpful.

Post the output from CoH Helper and HiJackThis as explained in Hyperstrike's [Guide] Asking for technical help on the forums thread that is stickied in this forum section.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

That worked. So it appears it is something in the drivers.

Another bug that might be related to this is that when exiting to desktop, the game doesn't exit, so need to kill the process through the taskmanager.

Edit:
Stripping out all the CoH and HiJackThis logs as the problem seems to have been solved.
Definetly not paranoid, but it did show a little too much. =^_^=

Something is keeping CoH Helper from accessing the registry settings so your CoH Helper report doesn't contain any of the game settings. I would suspect it is something in one of the Symantec products blocking access to the registry. Without those settings, it is difficult to tell if it is a game setting that may be causing the problem.

The GamerOSD may be causing some of your problems, especially if you are using it for overclocking. Some similar programs such as RivaTuner and EVGA Precision Tool have been known to cause problems with accessing parts of the game. Try shutting down the GamerOSD completely to see if that helps resolve the problems. You may want to set things back to default if you've been using it for overclocking before shutting it down.

The other things that I notice are that you have a lot of unnecessary programs running in the background, which can use up resources and memory that the game may need. You may want to shut off these unneeded programs such as Adobe Reader Speed Launcher, QuickTime Task, Java Update Scheduler and similar.

Also, your D: drive is getting rather low on space. If the game is on that drive, you may want to free up a bit of space to get it to around 20% or above on the Free Space readings.

Thanx for the answers. I know the D-drive is almost full. That is the data-drive (and some stuff there should be deleted once I can bother dealing with it). The game isn't on that disk. Its on the C-drive.

I tried fiddling around with another graphics-card that I have had lying around for like 2-3 years (a Forsa Geforse 9600GT). It is supposedly better than the one I had installed. But it would only give me 800x600-mode. So I went and bought myself a flatscreen (got tired of the old crt-screen). Tried reinstalling the graphics-drivers a numbers of times, but wouldn't help. Still only 800x600-resolution, so switched back to the old card, and could then increase the resolution much more and that helped. So now I can enter the bases again and the game doesn't hang when exiting. Not sure if it had something to do with the specific resolution or just crap in the driver.

I don't do any overclocking, but yes, there might be some programs running in the background that shouldnt be running. Most seem to be stuff that "should" be there. Like the antivirus that spawns a zillion sub-processes, and the broadband helpassistent etc.

way too many sub processes going on there. Norton's probably being your biggest punk here as well as the computer specific manufacturer software. Something I'd probably do is cold boot the machine and see what's running at that point. Let us know how much CPU time and RAM is being taken up sitting idle. Those specs are Close to what my other laptop runs and it barely handles a single instance if I have that kinda stuff running. I'm not sure I'd recomend anything higher than the lowest two graphics settings ingame either, even though the GPU should be able to handle it.
