What do you think?

So, I've had an idea bopping around in my head for a little while for a themed SG or Coalition, and it kinda goes something like this:

Story: In the distant future, humanity expands throughout the cosmos and begins colonizing hundreds of planets, ruled by an immortal God-Emperor, this vast empire enjoys a tense era of peace. That is, until the excesses of the Emperor inspire a rebellion that sparks a war. Finally, after Millennia under his iron heel, the people trap the Emperor in a pocket universe. The people then quickly form the United Systems Alliance and enjoy 200 years of peace on their independent, but united planets. Until war and unrest threaten the solidarity of the Alliance. People everywhere are frightened, and with the possibility of open war between the planets, there are even whispers of the old emperors return. As the last hope of your people, YOU have been chosen to journey to the distant past, to claim allies for the coming conflict, or to ensure victory by any means necessary.

Summary: The idea was to create a back story that opens up another universe of possibilities, I enjoy making homage-characters to popular series, and I thought this would be the perfect way to implement some of my theme characters, while getting to see all the great theme or non-theme characters that other people come up with as well. The idea is anyone can join, make a character and planet that they hail from, and just jump right in.

Why make a themed character?: I enjoy a character with a set theme, I find it easier to play and get involved with his development. And, if I want to RP, I have a ready-made character.

You pay to play. Having fun is ok. Kill Skuls or kill Crey. Hunt at night or in the day. Black or white or shades of grey. Play it your way. We have no say.

Popular themes I would like to include:

Mutants: Under the Emperor, genetic modification was encouraged and widespread, although mutant society has since diminished, they are still numerous throughout the United Systems.

Cyborgs/Androids: Like genetic modification, synthetic life and augmentation proliferated across the old empire and there are numerous planets which accept synthetic-only lifeforms.

Steam-punk: After the collapse of the old empire, many planets turned to the Eighteenth century for inspiration, powered by steam, these civilized worlds are filled with many wondrous inventions.

Zombies: In an empire where scientific advancement was placed ahead of human rights, zombism was inevitable. Though the legitimacy of necrotic culture is a subject for much debate, there are several worlds with thriving Necropolises, filled with both feral and non-feral Undead and their terrified neighbors.

Magic: Under the empire, magic was rationalized into the science of Symbology, which flourished and became widespread. Although most practitioners approach Symbology as they would any other science, there are tales of backward worlds where powerful wizards lord over ignorant populaces.

Utopian: In the wake of the empire, several worlds prospered greatly, and now live in Utopia-like city-states on their respective planets. They seek to spread their light to and ever darkening universe.

Dystopia: For some worlds, the end of the empire wrought only more chaos and many worlds were all but destroyed. The survivors hiding in underground cities, they emerged to find only lawless wasteland. These hardy people seek to tame this unforgiving landscape and take back their homes.

Under-developed worlds: Many planets slid even further back and now mirror ancient eras in Earths history.

So that is the gist of it. Questions? Comments? Additions? I would like everyone's honest input, and see if something like this is worth it and is desired. Feel free to send me a PM or comment below.

I'm not sure I'm entirely sure what the theme is here, a bunch of alternate dimensions converging in one spot?

You gotta read the whole thing T, not just skim it. The theme is a futuristic interplanetary alliance which is recovering from the tyranny of an evil emperor. You were sent back by your planets government to ensure their survival in the coming civil war. The idea is to make your character, and make the planet they come from, the planet would then be in the Alliance. You got to read the whole thing to understand it...

Alright, I think I kinda get it now. So different planets could be the origin for those varied themes.

Indeed so!

The idea is loose right now and subject to change. If people are interested, I encourage you to add to it. I do love a good group story.
