BSOD when I play CoH
That notebook really really isn't made for playing City of Heroes. And before you say "But I play <insert game here> at maximum settings and it works fine." I'll head you off. Most other games on the market today use DirectX. City of Heroes uses OpenGL. OpenGL is much more stressful on cards and tends to raise their temperature rapidly.
Second. Intel integrated graphics are just plain crap. They really aren't intended for advanced games, just browsing and watching videos. Intel is notoriously slow to correct conflicts with new games because the company just plain doesn't care. The chips work just fine for their intended use.
So odds are that the reason you are getting the BSOD is overheating. Your best bet is to play in safe mode and see if that stops the problem. If it does then you can gradually change different settings till you find the one that crashes your system. You can also try getting a laptop cooling pad to see if that helps.
But don't expect great results. You haven't got a game playing system. You have a multimedia system.
Don't count your weasels before they pop dink!
Well that explains that, sigh, ah well no biggie, I'd get too addicted anyway.
Thanks for the help, really appreciate it. I haven't been up to date with computers in a while, lowly arts student that I am so I really do need outside help.

You could try downloading and using CPUID HWmonitor or Core Temp. That can (potentially) tell you what the temps are on your processor and video solution. I'm not sure how it works for laptops, but it's something to try.
Hi so I'm pretty new here but I've been playing for about a week at this stage and my biggest problem is that I keep having Blue Screens of Death dropping on me. I've updated my Drivers from the HP site (though according to the login screen they are still out of date) and Pentium R Dual-Core CPU T4300 running Windows 7 Home Edition 64-Bit
I have a Hewlett PAckard G61-110SA with a Mobile Intel (R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family
The most recurrent error seems to be:
BCCode: 1000007e
BCP1: FFFFFFFFC0000005
BCP2: FFFFF8800517CF02
BCP3: FFFFF880065C43D8
BCP4: FFFFF880065C3C30
Other errors have included PFN_LIST_Corrupt (which happened right after the video driver update so I think that is the connection) and System_Service_Exception
It's really messing up my gameplay and driving me mental to boot as it typically happens during missions so I am wary of joining any teams and groups (I'm only level 11 anyway but still)
Any help would really be appreciated
