Im hoping someone here might be able to give me an assist.

I havent been able to play CoH ever since it shifted over to the NCsoft Launcher. I have never been able to get it to launch as it were.

Anyhow, I am trying it again however, I am having difficulty with installing the .NET frameworks. I have .NET 1.1 installed on my machine but receive an error message every time I try to download .NET 2.0.

I get the following message;

Error 25015. Failed to install assembly 'C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Mic rosoft.VisualBasic.Compatability.dll' because of system error: 0x80131107

I use windows xp and would appreciate any help. Hopefully, once I get past this hurdle, I wont have any problems downloading .NET 3.0 and 4.0...sigh.

First off, make sure you're logged in as Administrator on the machine.

Second: You may have certain items loading in that are preventing the install. Try this routine.

  1. Click on the Start menu, choose Run, type msconfig and click OK
  2. In the System Configuration tool, click on the Services tab
  3. Check the box labeled Hide all Microsoft services
  4. Click the Disable All button to disable all non-Microsoft services
  5. In the System Configuration tool, click on the General tab
  6. Click the Selective startup radio button
  7. Uncheck the box labeled Load startup items
  8. Click OK to accept all changes in the System Configuration tool
  9. Reboot for the changes to take effect
  10. Attempt to install the application that previously failed
  11. Re-run the System Configuration tool and re-enable the services that you disabled in step 4 above

Thanks for the response Hyperstrike, much appreciated.

I have done the steps you suggested but received the same error message.

Thanks again. I figured out what the problem was and got it installed. After that 3.0 and 4.0 installed no problem. Once that was done CoH had no problems installing and launching.

Its good to be back!

Cool. Sorry to lag on getting back. Been a bit distracted.

What was the issue?
