bind help for the non computer literate?

You would type /bind f2 auctionhouse, you don't put the slashes inside the bind.
So for facepalm, you do /bind f1 e facepalm and for vault, it's /bind f3 vault

You may need the "s
/bind f1 "emote facepalm"
You don't need apostrophes unless you're building combination binds, e.g. talking and emoting or costume change and power effect. (unless it's a chat bind for a channel with a space in its name, but that's getting off topic)

have looked through untold number of guides / posts / etc. full of all kinds of technical info.
none of which made any sense : (
can someone show me exactly what i need to type in order to get the following things to work ?
f1 = facepalm
f2 = auctionhouse
f3= vault
i was told to try /bind f2 "/auctionhouse" which i did, but it gave me answer i didnt understand : (
