Can't connect to DBServer, all other solutions don't work
Please follow the instructions in the stickied [Guide] Asking for technical help on the forums thread. You can post the output of CoH Helper and HiJackThis in this thread so people aren't playing guessing games to try to help you.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.
Black Pebble is my new hero.
Thanks Tex. I haven't played in over a year so I hadn't seen that guide before.

HiJackThis is not very helpful on 64 bit operating systems, as it gives a lot of false errors, as evidenced by iBuds' log above.
Anyway, did you take my suggestion that I gave last night and try starting City of Heroes in safe mode, Buds?

A few things in the CoH Helper catch my eye. I'd recommend turning Ambient Occlusion OFF completely as it is known to be resource intensive. I'd also recommend turning Bloom OFF as well and lowering the World Texture Level to High.
It might help a bit to reduce the Maximum Particles to somewhere around 25050 from the current 50000.
Those of us used to looking at HJT logs already know to ignore things like the O10 entries for the unknown file in the Winsock LSP and the file missing entries.
I am a bit curious about the 2 RIFT entries in the Running Processes section. Were you playing RIFT when you ran HJT or is this some extraneous stuff that RIFT leaves running even when you aren't playing? If the game was running, that could possibly account for the memory usage I noticed in the CoH Helper output.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Gave it a go and still no dice.

Hmm, I'm determined to see this through now.
That memory usage looks rather high to me. Is the memory usage that high all the time, is it that high when you are playing CoH, or is this something else? How long had it been since you had shut down the computer completely or rebooted?

It would've been at least 8 or 9 hours since the last restart.
And yeah, was runnin' Rift at the time.
It didn't even occur to me to close everthin' down while I ran those programs. Though, it was 2am. XD
Safe Mode would accomplish all of your above suggestions, right?
Thanks for the ongoin' help. Much appreciated.
I've recently come back to the game and while I was downloadin' I was able to log into Champion, I got to the character select screen and thought that it'd be best to just wait for the download to finish so I logged out.

I installed Avast and a few days later I came back to the game and was unable to even get to the toon select screen, on any servers. Kept gettin' the "Can't connect to DBServer" issue.
I did a bit of Googlin' and found a few people with this same problem. Their solutions were firewall related, mostly.
So today I uninstalled Avast and I was able to finally get onto Champion. I jumped in-game and talked to a few old friends, logged out and transfer 2 toons to Exalted.
I then tried loggin' into Exalted and the DBServer issue popped up again.
A mate in TeamSpeak suggested I go to the command prompt and type in "ipconfig /flushdns"
And after that I was able to log in. Happy days!
We started an ITF and while I was zonin' out of 3rd mission, I crashed and then all of a sudden the "Can't connect to DBServer" problem came back to life.
I did the command prompt solution again but it didn't work again.
Another, computer smart friend told me to go back to the command prompt and type in "ipconfig /release" then "ioconfig /flushdns" then reboot my computosaur and then go back to the command prompt and type in "ipconfig /renew"
This didn't work either, unfortunately.
But yeah, I'm kinda at my wits end.
I wanna come back and play with the old SG mates and sock-rock some of the new trials but I'm unable to.
/e sadpanda
TL;DR? Can't connect to DBServer, all other solutions don't seem to work.
Anyone, by chance have a solution for me?
