Video crash out of game
I've seen something like this with my system in SLI with the 280.26 drivers too. In my case, the entire system did an abrupt hard shutdown. It wasn't frequent, or even when the graphics load was obviously heavy. After restarting, I would get messages that the SLI bridge was absent, and the nvidia control panel would not show one of the cards. And yet, with some effort via a clean reinstall of the drivers, I could get the system to appear normal again, until the next abrupt shutdown. I've just turned SLI off for the time being, and everything is fine. When they release new drivers, I plan to try again.
I did some looking 'round the 'net, and this seems to be a persistent problem with nVidia and Windows 7 - 64 bit.
The only "fix" I found is the following:

Try do the following: Nvidia Control Panel -> 3D Settings -> Manage 3D Settings -> Program Settings Select your program from the list or add it, if not in the list. In the "Power management mode" change it to "Prefer maximum performance". |
thanks for the answers, COH was not under my 3D profiles, so added it & hopefully that will fix it.
Tried the 'fix' but no dice. It still crashes on me. Any other suggestions? I really want to play this game but the latest patch is keeping me from playing.
the past few days I have been having random video crashs to desktop & get the following message.
The NVIDIA OpenGL driver lost connection with the display driver and is unable to continue.
The application must close.

anyone have any ideas on why this is happening? It's not a heat issue, neither of my cards run past 68C.
I am running 2 Nvidia 9800GTX+ in SLI mode with the drivers ver 280.26
thanks for any help on this
