Hi
Starting a thread specifically for this error.

For a few weeks I haven't been able to connect to launcher.ncsoft.com. Until now that hasn't been a problem.
Today, 9/12, the Launcher informs me that there is an update.
If I choose 'Yes' the launcher seems to quit and then reopen, tells me it can't connect to launcher.ncsoft.com and then quits without notice.
If I choose 'No' and then 'Play Now' the launcher tries to download
cider-COHR-Updater-006998.tgz
and gives me the following error almost immediately:
Download failed! Error - The operation couldn’t be completed. (NSURLErrorDomain error -1100.) (null)
I'm running OSX 10.6.8
I downloaded a new copy of the launcher from the CoH website but have not installed it as Finder informs me that my current copy is newer than the one I downloaded.
Problem still exists at 10 PM EST.
TIA,
Silewyn

(Since I use the same computer as Sliewyn) Unfortunately, this seems to be related to the "Unable to connect to launcher.ncsoft.com" error that we've been receiving since manually downloading and installing the Mac launcher when it was finally released live. I say that because if you try to update by simply clicking the "Yes" button when it asks if you want to update, it briefly flashes the "Unable to connect to launcher.ncsoft.com" message before closing itself. This has been an ongoing error since the day NCSoft released the Mac version of the launcher.

Im not sure if this will fix it for anyone else. But usually I launch the game by running the City application from spotlight and then that runs the NC Launcher. I ran the NC Launcher directly this time and then it worked. Hope this helps.

Nice idea, but unfortunately, we always run the NC Launcher directly. Wish it would work.

I'm still getting this error message, anybody know how to fix it yet?

2:00 PM EST - no change in error. CoH has finished downloading and installing the GAME update, but the CIDER update is crashing every time. And the LAUNCHER update is still the same ***** mess it's been since the day the launcher was released to the Mac public.

Experiencing this issue as well along with same symptoms as the OP. I haven't been able to run CoH for days and I'm starting to get the itch. What gives? Anyone have a fix?

Hi,
Know it's been a while so this may no longer apply to anyone but in case it does...
Apparently the new launcher does not like being run on multiple desktops no matter how you have your permissions set.
What Yinepuhotep and I did was the following:
Download a new copy of the launcher from http://na.cityofheroes.com/en/my_acc..._of_heroes.php
Install a copy to each player's personal application folder. So your path should look like "/Users/Silewyn/Applications" where Silewyn is the name of the user.
Make sure you run your personal copy of the launcher. I ran mine and then set it to stay in my dock to avoid confusion.
The new copy of the Launcher should then update itself and your copy of CoH. Don't worry, you won't end up with multiple copies of CoH, at least we didn't.
Now, this solved our Launcher problems but that's all it solved. It isn't a panacea but it couldn't be.
