Shield/Super Strength leveling build suggestions?
A few things to consider;
- You shouldn't need more then two slots in Active Defense, both recharge. You can drop a third in at lower levels, but I'd respec down to two once the toon gets into the 30+ level range.
- Against all Odds is fine with a single End redux.
- True Grit and Deflection are your only sources of resistance in SD, so slot some Resist IOs in them.
- Grant Cover also provides Defense Debuff resistance and should be in the build, but you can wait till late in the build to take it.
- You don't need kb protection IOs in Shield Defense.
- Hand Clap is skip-able
- Get Rage. Get enough recharge to stack it. Super Strength is balanced around Rage.
- Getting Rage stacked will avoid the -def on the Rage crash and the -end on the crash. It will NOT avoid the -dmg crash. Use veteran and temp powers during this time.
- Foot Stomp is the only AoE in SS, and what a lovely AoE it is.

Great, thank you!
One more thing, some people get tripped up by what Phalanx Fighting does and does not do, it's a rather unusual power.
PF is a passive with two defense components, an unenhanceable 5% defense buff for the player, and an enhanceable scaling defense buff based on allies in melee range. So while it's definitely worth taking for the defense buff to self, most players don't slot it heavily for defense since slotting only affects the relatively unreliable ally buff.
Hope that helps!

Thanks for the additional comment on Phalanx Fighting. I knew I was forgetting something.

As it says on the tin: I'm just kind of puttering along getting a feel for various power combos, and I wonder if anyone wants to point out pitfalls or opportunities for speccing while leveling. Thanks!
