Placate and taunt protection IO?

Hi everybody,

I was looking at the IO sets available for my pet powers, and I noticed Commanding Presence's special aura IO that grants your pets placate and taunt resistance.

Except for Captain Mako, I can't remember any opponent ever using Placate against any of my characters. And yes, there might be the one rare situation where you really need your pets to finish off opponent A quickly while opponent B taunts them away, but I'd assume that aggro-ing my pets usually is what I want an opponent to do anyway.

So, why would one use this IO? Was it geared towards PVP, perhaps?

Thanks for any information on this,

10joy

Aside from PVP and certain AVs, the only things I've ever seen use Placate are specific Arachnos mobs. They love that crap, but even then it's really rare to see.

Does Taunt, or Gauntlet, even work on pets in PVP (excluding the -Range aspect, which I'd expect to work normally)?

Assault also grants resistance to taunt and placate. Most MMs usually take the Leadership pool.

It's trash. Just sell it.

What's left is to normalize all Assassin Strikes and improve Stalker's old sets (Claw, MA and EM)! You don't need to bring back the missing PbAoE attack. You just need to make the existing ones better! For example, make Slice a WIDER and LONGER cone.

Then u missed a few opponents, f.e. Bane Spider Scouts or Mk-VI "Victoria" .

Placate resistance seems pretty useless to me, for pets, long before the duration of the Placate ends, even resisted, the enemy has long since landed their crit. This may be the biggest turd among procs.
