That is literally all it does. It remembers every line said to it, and when you say a line to it it tries to pick the most relevant line from its vast warehouse of lines to give you in reply.

What's cool about it is that the program starts from nothing, and "learns" by having people talk to it. But it's not in any way an AI... it's only a very clever, computerized parrot. But sometimes it can really seem like it's thinking... because it's replying with things that people have said in similar situations to it.
