Best epic set for ice/kin?

Which epic set do you recommend for an ice/kin controller? I'm debating between fire and ice.

I have the Blackwand and Nemesis Staff for vet powers, but I could use a little more damage.

Fire has Fireball, but ice has Ice Storm.

Fireball does less damage, but recharges faster. With Hasten and Siphon Speed, I'm hoping that Ice Storm will recharge fast enough to use on every mob (or every other mob).

Ice also has Hibernate, which might come in handy in a pinch.

I don't see much else from Fire that I'm thrilled about.

Armors are pretty even.

What do you guys think?

My first thought with any */Kin is Earth. Fissure is very short range, but recharges fastest of all the AoE attacks. Seismic Smash hits HARD and adds a hold -- and it hits even harder when boosted with Fulcrum Shift. Rock Armor has the best S/L numbers (but it is ugly) and the heal/HP boost is nice to have. Throw Boulder is too slow, but the rest of the set is pretty good.

Ice also has a Defense-based armor, Hibernate, and TWO AoE damage powers. I love it on many characters, but since Kinetics has to be in melee anyway, Earth is overall best.

For normal content, I vote Psi for the anti-mezz toggle, unless you pick Clarion as your Destiny power.

It is a click power, not a toggle! (I know you know that!)

With the Clarion Destiny power, Psi becomes far less appealing. Many folks are now building for Defense, and look for a Defense-based armor. Good Defense will also deflect mez attacks.

Yep you're right I do. It's a click. I just got done with 13 hours of travel.

I prefer Indom Will to Clarion, because if you take Clarion you can't take something else. In this case my vote on that something else would be Barrier. You also will probably want something in the meantime until you get to Tier 3 or 4, and only then respec.

I think much of this depends on you, and your own playstyle, as much as anything else. However, I believe it's not the attacks which are the controlling (pardon the expression) factor, it's the defense.

As Local Man said, Earth and Ice both have defense armor. That's a big deal for you, because a /kin plays in melee range. Earth has more close-up attacks, ice has that DoT storm, which is a lovely thing when you have fulcrum shift, especially if you have slotted a bit of Slow into the power, so they can't run out of the storm quickly.

My personal favorite is Fire, largely because of RotP, which is a rez with very high damage and stun. I also use bonfire all the time on TF's. Light it under your favorite AV, use an immob if s/he starts to wander. It not only does nice damage, but knocks away all those guys who get summoned by the AV as well. If I choose this epic, I slot for ranged defense - despite the fact that it would seem to want slotting for melee defense. Most mezzes have a ranged component, and in my experience, soft-capped ranged defense is as good, if not better than, s/l defense.

But I really think it depends on what you enjoy and how you play, than any other factor.
