Back After Almost 3 years... I Need Some Help.

Hello:

I haven't played CoH in almost 3 years... I logged in after all this time, and my level 50 Illusion Controller is still here (I was surprised).

A lot has changed since I left some time ago. I have CoH (Rouge) and wanted to know some things.

Is level 50 still the cap, or are there additional levels?

Do they have guilds or something similar (I play on the freedom server)?

If level 50 is the level cap, what else is there to do in the game once you max out?

I was on when Atlas Park was attacked by something... well I have no idea what it was exactly. That's something to to me. what's that all about?

There have definitely been some changes to the game since I played last. If some of you would be willing to fill in some gaps, it would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

You can't gain a level 51 per se, but you can definitely make your character more powerful and gain a "level shift" that makes level 50 enemies effectively level 49 to you.

The short answer is: go to Ouroboros and talk to Mender Ramiel and run his arc. (There's four Elite Bosses along the way mind you). That opens up your alpha slot and gets you started on the incarnate path.

After that the various incarnate trials are used to open up your other incarnate slots, which grant you some pretty neat powers.

Invasions happen -- Rikti invasions, zombie invasions, and supernatural events.

Organica covered things pretty well. I'll point out that those links she's got there, to paragonwiki, that's a damn good place there. ParagonWiki will be your friend if you want to learn the ins and outs of what's happened in your leave.

And on that note, I find this thread title highly amusing given your forum handle. I was quite tempted to come in and post a picture of a bottle of Listerine. But that's no way to welcome someone back, even if they are named after the dreaded gum disease.

Anyway, welcome back and enjoy learning all the new stuff. It's pretty fun.

You shouldn't be. NCSoft has vowed it will never delete anyone's characters no matter how long they've been out of the game. (It makes sense, financially—after all, any one of those people might someday want to come back and give them more money.)

Rouge? Like the makeup?

As has been mentioned, it is the cap, but they added some new sort of pseudo-level-like content onto it: with the Incarnate system, you can make your character more powerful, with a number of convenient little bonus powers and level shifts.

Yes, they're called "supergroups" and they've been around for quite a while. (I'd think they've been around longer than three years, actually.)

Well, there's the aforementioned Incarnate system. There's also Ouroboros, the flashback system, which lets you go back and play through any content you missed on the way up. And you can exemplar down and help lower-level characters with stuff. And, of course, you can always start a new character!

Probably the Rikti. They added a zone event a couple of years back where every so often Rikti will drop bombs into the area, then attack in force. You can get some badges from fighting them off that add up to an accolade that grants a psi-defense power.

Something else that might take you by surprise: the Fitness power pool has now been granted to everyone as an Inherent. You can respec any character that took it and gain back those extra power choices.

Strongly suggested: go to ParagonWiki and read through the descriptions of what changed with each new content Issue. It's a great way to get an overview of everything that's been done to the game since you last played regularly.
