Ice Mastery Epic set for Corrupters
The AT is "Corruptors" with an 'o'.
This is not the suggestions forum.
Epic Pools have 5 powers now.
Epic shields provide ~20% resistance to smashing/lethal and 10-15% flavour resistance to another type; divide by 2 for defence numbers. Frozen Armour is the Ice Mastery version, giving defence to s/l, resistance to cold and token resistance to fire.
You are not going to get a mag 100+ hold into an epic pool. Holding Lieutenants is the best you are goign to do without stacking outside of actual control sets. The gradual slowing prior to the hold sounds like an interesting mechanic, but slows only have a noticeable control effect over prolonged periods, so actually all you are doing is delaying the hold. You can always attack held foes, and holds suppress defensive toggles instead of detoggling. Outside of PvP there is no reason one would ask to change this behaviour.
Corruptors are an AT with a blasting primary and a buff/debuff secondary. A high damage ranged attack with a recharge debuff is already outside the scope of the Epic pools for the AT. Adding a random +damage buff to it in no way makes this sound more balanced.
A damage aura doing superior damage? In an epic pool?
Granted; this would 'add incentive' to people picking an AT on the basis of whether it has a broken epic pool.
Amusing read though.
Nice try.
Sounds overpowered but cool..

Please read updates to original posting concerning the 4 powers suggested for a possible ice mastery epic pool set for corruptors.

Thanks for your feedback, and I do appreciate the spelling error correction. If I am not mistaken, in the power pool mastery set, total focus offers superior damage. Again this is offered in a pool set. Of the powers I was talking about, "Glacial Tempest" where the character would encase him or herself in ice and spin at super speeds while shooting out daggers of ice was the only power I suggested being close to superior or even extreme damage. The "Glacial Boomerang" would offer moderate damage; however at 2 different times, during the first strike and on its return back to castor. It would offer moderate damage twice which could result in high damage with scourge attached. The Ice/Glacial Sphere (or if a prism, conforms to the shape of the character his/herself). This toggle would offer either resistance or defense to a variety of attacks to INCLUDE psionic. The boost of this power would grow accordingly with enhancement slotting. I had a GM instruct me to put these ideas to the forums for their uniqueness. I certainly hope an ice mastery set will be considered for corruptors.

If an Ice Mastery Pool is ever given to Corruptors, it will likely resemble other AT's versions of it. Creating new powers just for a Mastery pool doesn't seem like a good use of resources. It would probably look like this:
Level 41: Chillblain Level 41: Frozen Armor Level 44: Chilling Embrace Level 44: Frozen Aura or Flash Freeze Level 47: Hibernate |
I agree; however, the revamping of this pool set is not without consideration. This has come from 2 senior GM's. They are unique powers that would offer a different style to the power set. I was just suggesting.

Basically, all of the Ancillary Pools available to Corruptors must be balanced against each other. Yes, Total Focus causes "superior" damage. However, it's single target. The power that you're describing sounds like an Area of Effect (AoE) attack, which causes it's damage to be vastly out of line with other Corruptor Ancillary attacks. Likewise, the shield has to be around the same value as other Corruptor shields, otherwise there would be no reason to take the other Ancillaries.
This isn't a slam against you. You obviously care about your idea, otherwise you wouldn't be here. I'm just trying to show you that it's unlikely to happen given the powers you've described.

Power 1: Ice or Glacial stasis (Sphere) (toggle) - this stasis or sphere (shield) offers the caster HIGH resistance and/or defense to all attacks with an explanation being that when an attack passes through the prism sphere it freezes to the point of uselessness. Thes power increases with threat level increase and IO slots. If the power is in the form of a stasis field it would illuminate around the character conforming to the character's physical build. If this power is a sphere then it would then be a normal FF appearance.
Power 2 - ICE BRIDGE (travel)- This form of travel is a combination of superspeed and flight. The character would need use of 1 of his/her hands at all times to keep a continuos construct of the ice bridge during travel. The character can travel at a capped speed similar to superspeed or flight. The bridge itself will begin to dissipate after a certain length has been created. The character can travel distances and height similar to superspeed and flight. In the case of battle, the character would only have use of 1 arm to cast any attacks while in travel
Power 3 - Glacial Boomerang or daggers - When the caster targets a foe and activates the power the ice boomerang would impale throgh the foe causing moderate damage and slowling attack rate, then the boomerang would circle back and imaple the foe again this time causing moderate damage and offering the caster an increase in damage output for a short period.
Power 4 - Glacial tempest - The caster would encase himself in a shield of ice with daggers shotting outward (similar to spines) SPINNING at high velocity pertruding outward causing any foes within melee range high damage. The caster can move while this power is active. This power also has a strong chance of knocking back foes; although stronger foes may resist. This power is NOT a permanent toggle and only lasts for 30 seconds. The character canbe attacked while in this state; however, foes find it harder to target the character during this form due to the high intensity spinning and the constant ice dagger barrage.
I believe these are unique, innovative and would add incentive to the corrutper archtype Please consider ice mastery for corrupters.
