Something / Cold, probably Plant or Electric for the Confuses. That gives the pair healing, resistance, defense, debuff, endurance, and perma-confuse.
I would say go for Illusion/Cold. Basically for all the reasons the previous poster gave, but also because you will be able to bring some pain with Phantom Army. You guys would be able to confuse dangerous foes buff heal, crush hard targets, etc. That would be a nice duo.

Hey guys thanks a lot for the advice. The last couple days since I've been back I've been playing my Earth/rad/stone troller who is lvl 46 currently. After taking forever and a half to think of a respec now that stamina is inherant, she is able to take on baddies in a whole new way.
I speccd her into fire out of stone, and wow do i love a fireball on a fully debuffed mob! I was also able to take out a few powers I wasnt using and worked on buffing her defense with maneuvers/combat jumping/hover and assault for grouping.
Although she may not be as fast as other troller primaries, the sense of control and power that comes with Earth/Rad is quite nice, and honestly Mr. Poo does some very respectable damage on top of being able to take a beating.
The Demon/thermal will add some much needed DPS however my friend has not been on to test this, I have been fortunate enough to group with a few, and the demon holds/buffs stack nicely with what i'm throwing out.
Maybe im just addicted to /rad and maybe a fire/rad would do even better but for now I am in love with my earth/rad. If anyone could possibly help me with some build ideas where I can maximize dps, and still have all my defenses covered I would love some help. I have not yet delved into IO's but Im hoping to get there soon. Thanks again for the advice.

I know there is no best answer to this question but I thought it would be good discussion.
My friend is currently starting a Demon/Thermal MM and I am wanting to play a strong controller build that would mesh well for duoing purposes.
What would you roll with ideally if your friend was a Demon/Thermal?
