On re-reading I see you want the Huntsman to be soloable, so he should keep his +def pool picks and bonuses.
Once defense is taken care of, VEATs need endurance management help, which you have covered with your purpled out builds, as well as recharge.
Really VEAT team builds are simple - take the TT: x powers, Widows take ML, take the aoes (especially Crabs)... go nuts.
Global = Hedgefund (or some derivation thereof)
I wouldn't be so categorical myself, having team defense overkill on paper can be useful if people run out of range, out of LoS, are fighting heavy def debuffs or tohit buffs, during the eventual death of one or more team members, etc..
I will agree that you can generally do what you want and do just fine as a team of VEAT, though. It's just I also feel there is an use to more defense beyond the (IMHO) overhyped 45% defense point.
I find 45 defense + (Vengeance or Med Purple) with some resistance and minor healing makes you basically invincible.
So let me ask another question. How many Achilles Heel chance for debuff should I put in each build? Should I only put it in AoE powers?
Should I go with Mako Patron Pool for the extra AoE for everyone?
Will I need extra stealth IO's in the builds?
You don't need the Heel proc, but if you do have it and can spare the slot - yeah place it in an aoe.
Mako does have cones that need to be aimed... I myself would take Soul Mastery (Ghost Widow) to pick up Darkest Night and Obliteration . DN will provide you more debuff then the proc, plus it won't need to proc to take action.
I would take DN/Tentacles on the Huntsman though.
The crab should be fine for AoE, could pick up Mace Mastery for another pet.
Melee Bane also could take Mace Mastery for the pet - and Shatter Armor.
Fort... no idea .. whatever I suppose

This is an older build for a Huntsman, can't recall who created it but:
it is softcapped to range, and more based towards teaming - and is mainly AOEs
But, I believe he said he uses it in solo play .. but I could be misremembering.

So we have a family foursome, three soldiers and one widow. We only play these toons when all four of us are playing. We are only lvl 18 right now, but things are going pretty well.
My wife wants the fortunata path. I'm going for huntsman/bane. My older son wants crab and my younger son wants melee bane.
I have played mostly brutes, so has my wife. I'm not real sure what to be going for. I know that as long as we're in range of each other, once we get IO's, we will all be softcapped.
Both my boys want pets, I'm not interested in pets. I'm trying to make my huntsman soloable, it is not necessary for the boys toons to be soloable.
I'd like some feed back on my intial builds here, as I have so little VEAT experience.
