The Sad Story of Skip Jones

Who is Skip Jones? What kind of superhero name is Skip? Where's his costume? And what is that thing on his head?

Well, Mister Jones serves as a cautionary tale to the people of Paragon, specifically the tale about not touching strange things you find lying around on the street. Stumbling across that godawful helmet in an alley after a night of somewhat spirited drinking with his friends, he believed that it would be amusing for all if he put it on his head. It didn't precisely work out as he'd imagined. Imbued with the power of mighty Kheldians of ages past, the helmet bestowed upon Mister Jones the abilities of a warshade.

This is not in fact something that he really desired. He's somewhat stuck with the atrocious thing, however, as he only has powers while wearing it. And before any smart folks in the audience suggest that he simply take it off and abandon superheroing, it should be mentioned that donning the helmet had a permanent side-effect:

Yeah. So. Not exactly holding down a day job with that face, so it's superhero or nothing now. He was never all that enamored with superheros bouncing all around the city using peoples' cars as projectile weapons with the attendant effect on his auto insurance rates. Also, the somewhat alarming nature of his helmet led many to assume that he was a villain and attack him on sight, so he rather grimly resolved to have nothing to do with the whole superhero culture. He never took a nickname, and since his Kheldian powers shield him from danger better than any spandex, he also never wore any 'silly costumes', sticking to the reliability of denim and sneakers.

For his efforts in resisting the Rikti invasion, fighting aliens being something of a specialty of his, the Vanguard rewarded him with a suit of their armor, in 'dignified Warshade colors'.

He... only wears it to Vanguard parties, to avoid hurting their feelings.
