Alright Mids' fans, here is the challenge. Try to put together a Widow build following these criteria:

No Mind Link
Soft-Capped for Trials (59% in all positionals)
Managable Endurance
Decent attack chain
Playable

Mind Link is there, but not required to hit 59% positionals, just as a buff for teammates or against defense debuffs / tohit buffs. If you really hate it, just pick Kick instead and slot it with 3 knockback enhancement IOs, so you can kick stuff in the face. Unlike some sissy excuse of an action hero from a recently rebooted franchise. *ahem*

59% in all positionals - check.
Managable endurance - +2.4eps (averaging perf shifte rproc) with all toggles on, should be alright for regular play. For long fights without external endurance buffs, would probably toggle both tactics off and possibly the pool Assault.
Decent attack chain - can run FU Slash Lunge Strike Swipe with a 0.05s gap.
Playable - wut. Er, I mean, yes?

The one weakness is the lack of a selfheal, but personally on a widow I go for Destiny Rebirth and call it a day.

That doesn't seem like such a bad build. I might go for something like that, just for kicks. Thanks for the idea.

Quite intriguing, great first submission. I look forward to seeing some other takes. But, nearly 75% in all positionals with Mind Link up... That's all kinds of nasty. Stack a Vengeance on that and you're over a hundred. I think you have just redefined the term insane defense...

Couple comments, from the post, I'm guessing you really don't like mindlink. I can understand, I find it annoying myself. But I do have to say that building up to 59% def without it certainly is possible, but feels somewhat like a waste. I have a fortunata build I put together that is at the normal softcap without mindlink, I figure mindlink will cover me for iTrials or def debuff. Obviously though you can build your character how you want, but completely ignoring such a good power seems a waste IMO.

Second comment, I can't say what you intended, but often when I see "challenges" like this, it really reads to me as "build my character for me cause I don't want to" especially when it's a complicated build like this with heavy requirements. I don't know that you intended that or not, but I expect you would/will get more responses if you posted a build you had put together.

Mind Link takes a while to cast and that's why I don't care if it's perma or not. I'll use it when I feel I need it.

Even if you don't need Mind Link's defense, Mind Link provides very rare Psionic resistance 30% base for the team, which is very amazing.


What's left is to normalize all Assassin Strikes and improve Stalker's old sets (Claw, MA and EM)! You don't need to bring back the missing PbAoE attack. You just need to make the existing ones better! For example, make Slice a WIDER and LONGER cone.

No, I have been working on the third version of the build, it came up in another thread and I thought it would be interesting. I see challenges like this as a way to see how other players find novel ways to solve problems. Let's face it, when we build in Mids' we tend to have certain patterns that we stick to out of habit more than necessity.

I love mind link, and before starting this challenge I had never even thought of considering to begin to conceive of a build without Mind Link in it. But, it seemed like a fun challenge, and who cares if I never use any of these builds, it was all in good fun.

Edit: as I posted the last build I saw a solution to bring AoE up from .3 below cap to having all positionals capped while decreasing endurance cost.

btw: Tough is not meant to be used in this build.
