I come to you hat in hand, unsure of what to make

Depends on what you mean by jack of all trades, I guess. You can use it as a defense machine, and I do think that's when it shines the most. But if you don't need the defense, you can turn it into a DPS machine. And though hardly great, it has passable AoE if you take both attacks, and you could back that up with something like Fire Ball if you wanted. It has burst damage fairly well covered since it uses a Build Up power instead of a Follow Up power. So it can meet a handful of survival and damage requirements. The same could be said of many primaries, though.

Kat was going to be my suggestion too as I plan on making such a combo

Has abit of everything AoE and ST and a def skill sure is not the best but not the worst.
So long the person has fun that counts. Most of time DA is only used solo in teams the def seems to go through the roof most of the time you can focus on DPS and help the team with the -res procs.

So yea, I think I've narrowed it down even more :P

It is between a DM/Elec brute, a DB/Elec scrap, or a Kat/Elec scrap.

As far as the scrappers go unless my math is way wrong my Kat mops the floor with the DB ST DPS wise (307 vs 280), plus I have DA if I really wanted it, so the only advantage would be 1000 cuts vs lotus (also the DB has quad procced caltrops for more dps, so it may actually be closer). The brute has more survivability, the heal (slotted for pure damage), and the ability to take barrier instead of rebirth in the future, but I don't know it's DPS at all at the moment, and soul drain with only one target sounds a little abysmal

Though also everyone in my SG keeps calling me a fool for wanting to go /elec, so maybe I should suck it up and go /fire again, but I'd lose 20% recharge and end and a t9 and such...but then again kat and dm both help elec out where it needs it...

It would be more Lotus vs. Typhoon's Edge. Sweeping Strike vs. Flashing Steel is harder to compare because of recharge times and SS is suppose to be a hard hitter and you have to factor in it being the end of a combo. Kat has no counter to 1K Cuts. Kat is more defensive. DB is more offensive and that's what it really boils down to.

/elec on brutes get Energize at 28. There will be times you will hate this fact. Going Dark helps, but it's still a slow developing build. I almost deleted mine that's around 25 and I talked to a SG mate about it and they said it does develop late, but it's one of their best brutes in the end.

I've had fun on my DB/elec, but I think I went into it for the pure fun aspect of it versus worrying about how uber it would be in the end.

I think Kat/elec and Dark/elec will be the best in the end options, but I think Kat/elec will be a smoother ride.
