Arch/TA Build Advice:

Hello my fellow board members (yuk yuk yuk), I've been searching and have found a few builds here and there for this powerset but none that really got my mouth watering. Now, the combo of Oil Slick Arrow (ignited of course) and the various debuffs, combined with Rain of Arrows just has me itching to get this guy leveled up so I can see the orange numbers and Scourge fly! However, I'd just like to get some advice on his final build if I could as I know there are those of you who are much, MUCH better at this than I. This was built with Ranged Defense in mind as well as some good Recharge. Any suggestions for change while keeping the current price range in mind would be appreciated. Thanks!

Now without further ado, I present Titan Marksman to you for your critiquing:

So I guess it's alright then? Or it's so bad that nobody even dares touch it...

From a quick glance...

I think it is a good idea, but..

  • No to poison gas arrow all together - If you like the power cool; I think it sucks
  • No to assault, and basically tactics unslotted - veng is more useful than assault IMO
  • I understand the reasoning in slotting purposes for World of Confusion but are you ever actually going to be in the mob??
  • Acid and Disruption Arrow are your main debuff and -could- possibly use more slotting, though I realize the build it tight and they don't exactly require that much.
  • Also you currently have nice defense in general, ranged that is, but you shouldn't calculate with Stealth on. That is a -major- extra needless end-drain.
The biggest problem I see is Endurance. I know I can potentially have end issues on my arch/TA and he is toggle heavy too, so I could see this being a problem. Once again I know slots are tight, like usual, but Stamina could probably use a boost to at least 3 slots: proc, end, end. You also might get more bang out of the miracle unique instead of the numi, interms of recovery.

In terms of changing the build a bit, I'd probably suggest switching the epic pool entierly to something else. I think it might be wise to go for something that can get you some endurance in some form or fassion if possible. Mu Mastery might be a good idea, dunno.

You could also change directions of the build a bit and pick up a defensive shield.

Looking it over I spotted a couple of things.

I am not sure why you have world of confusion, because with Archery/TA you should rarely if ever be in melee. From the build I can only assume you got this for the ranged defense. You could look at the power mastery pool and look at getting Power Build up, Temp Invul, and Total Focus. If you are going to have a Melee Power might as well be one that packs a wollop. You can slot it with Mako's bite and still get pretty good ranged defense from that set. It also does energy damage so in case your blazing arrow misses you will have a back up to ignite your patch.

No AIM, that is a loss of pretty solid damage buff. The chance for build up in Tactics is nice but really its not reliable and I would probably swap it for vengeance which unless you only solo is much more useful. Even with only one slot.

Consider Swapping Combat Jumping/Super Jump for Hover, Fly. You will have an easier time staying at ranged, you will have better visibility of combat field. Also it won't use any more slots then you have in that combo now.

Acid Arrow doesn't have any accuracy. Probably ok, but not how I usually build.

Six Slots in glue arrow seems like a waste, just for a defense bonus. Same goes for Flash Arrow.

And a word of warning from someone that has both a 50 TA/Archery defender and a 50 Archery/Energy blaster. The time it takes for ROA to apply its damage will force you to have to stay ahead of your team mates. Otherwise with most fast moving high level teams you will find that your ROA will be landing on a field of already dead enemies. Also although I love TA it will feel like you will be behind the ball as far as other sets on fast moving teams due to the time it takes to animate all your debuffs.

So those are my thoughts. Overall your build will work, but I would at the minimum switch to fly and go with Power Mastery.

Poison gas arrow is one of the few damage mitigators that TA actually gets. The sleep effect is worthless, but the -20% damage is really where this power shines. Honestly it probably only needs one slot though. As a TA toon there really isn't much you can do to keep a team alive but this is one of them.

Also I just realized that you have a chance for damage in flash arrow. Probably not a good idea to have any procs in that power at all. That power won't notify the mobs that you put it on them unless there is a proc. This power is very useful when mobs are too close together, to keep them from noticing you as you take out the closest mob. If you put proc in it, it is pretty much guaranteed they will agro.

I find that my archers with around 30% ranged defense is plenty. As with vengeance all I really have to do is make sure I am not the first to die. POP that baby and I am golden.
