Any notes on this km/regen?

Hi!

I've been hunting around for something to do with /regen since I resubbed a while back, and as much as I love the sword sets, the redraw made me batty. I'm weird like that.

Coincidentially, I've been wanting to do something with km/ as well, so here is my attempt at a build for that. I'd feel better about it if I was using positional defense, or at least had a higher number for s/l and n/e since I've decided to go typed, at least in this iteration. I might make another go at a positional def build just for kicks.

I wound up with less +dmg that I wanted and probably more +regen from sets than I need, but I was sort of focused on defense and recharge.

Spiritual Core is a certainty, so may as well toggle that baby on. I'll admit to being reinspired by the brilliance in Werner's regen thread, so probably doing the MoG/SM/Rebirth "cycle" as needed. Seems like I got decent recharge in those?

I'm intriqued by the idea of -dmg from paralytic, but I am not convinced it would be better than adding damage from reactive. Any thoughts?

I suppose one thing I could do is collect A-merits for the other +3 def IO and drop a slot from tactics to fit it in. I'd never do it all in a singular run, so I would probably leave that slot empty for a long time if I went that route.

Aaaannnnd, self indulgent bump.

I know there's something that can be tweaked in there. Too much defense? Not enough defense? Too much recharge? Overbuilt for hp/regen bonuses unintentionally?

Or did I just stumble onto something pretty sweet and I should just go for it?

definitely not the case. hp set bonuses will do nothing for you if you get accolades and have perma-dull pain. Heal bonuses actually only boost dull pain, which doesn't need any additional help in the healing department. IH and Recon are unaffected by those sets, so those are largely wasted.

You left the ForceFeedback Proc on in your build, making it look like hasten was nearly perma with your 47.5% recharge (when this much recharge isn't even enough for Dull pain to be permanent, excluding alpha boosts).

Your defenses are pretty good, but you could've been a bit more efficient. Also your net recovery is pretty low.
A regen's motto is "recharge, recharge, defense, moar recharge," keep that in mind :]

I did two different builds for you, one typed, one positional, see which you like more.
the recharge is a bit lower on the melee build, but the defense is 1 luck from 45, and Shmeld puts you over incarnate cap, and ranged/AoE get to 53, which is 6% short of 59, but still pretty good for soaking alpha strikes.
I'm not sure which one I like more, personally.

Thanks, those are both a huge help! I was trying to take cues from the kat/regen crowd, but because of DA (and my lack of it) they just seemed too different. I'll take a moment to digest those though.

I think I was reading the FF proc numbers wrong - I must have assumed it was averaging out the buff (ala dmg procs in the dmg numbers), but in retrospect it was just tacking on the bonus as if it were always there. I happened to have one sitting around on another charcter, so I slotted it on this one. Not really that impressed. If I could put it into Burst (it appears that I cannot, though I could be wrong) then it might be more worthwhile. As it is I'll probably give it back to the mace brute for CC. Kinda too bad, I was hoping for a little extra push for more overlap from PS. Maybe I'll find it elsewhere though.

Quick question:

When you say "heal bonuses" you're referring to the +% bonuses that the healing sets have after 4 or 5 pieces, yes?

Again, thanks for those. I might take a shot at flavoring one of them up after I take a closer look.

Yup. Like the miracle 4th bonus, 5% heal. Those don't help healing powers that also carry a resistance component.

Been fiddling with this somewhat. I originally really liked the idea of going positional, but I preferred the flexibility from the typed version; not being locked into the 6th slot for def bonuses.

I doubt this is any better than what you started with, but I was trying to actually get s/l softcapped while maintaining a ton of recharge (FF proc removed), with no regards to "budget."

NinjEdit: After thinking about it a bit, I know it's not very creative throwing the pvp +3 def in there. (Time is the only cost really, and when 20.5 hits I'll have something to do with some stockpiled empy merits.) I tried looking for more from set bonuses, but I could only fit the 3.75%'s - which are already maxed out. There are a couple of 2% ones to be had that can be slotted in caltrops and web grenade, though that means dropping Shmeld, which I hear is sacriligous. At the same time, I am intrigued by those two powers. (oddly, shmeld would be in theme, but I'm not married to that either).

If recharge were lower I would wonder if trying to get to the s/l cap was worth it. I'm sure there's something else in there that I missed sacrifice wise. For some reason I think it would be pretty hot to have that last 2 ish percent to hit 45% on s/l. Maybe I'm putting too much value in it though. If I could figure out a way without loosing what looks to be good enough recharge to overlap PS, I just might.
