A New Dawn of Darkness (RPVG Recruiting)

((Sorry about the double post, I had a bit of a snafu with the original post title.))

He faded into the void like a shadow being set apart by the sun. The motionless, quiet gray haze surrounded him like a tomb. He walked—a curious sight, as there was no plane to walk on—forward for minutes. Stopping and turning to face the way he'd come, he gestured to nothing.

"I'm glad to see nothing's changed since my last visit," he rumbled. "But you are going to serve a purpose once more. You will be the home of the blackened, the sanctum of the malevolent, and at the risk of sounding cliché, the haven of the dark."

He raised a gauntleted hand, flattening his palm and fingers. From it, the white tendrils of his grand collection of souls ripped from those who opposed him. From them, from him, came the walls of the Dawn. From him came the books, the passages to the physical plane, the vaults full of magic and mystic artifacts. From these items, books, and portals would come the old order he had watched over not so long ago. From these halls and chambers would arise a new dawn.

A new Dawn of Darkness.

That's right, Virtue; the Dawn of Darkness is BACK! Some of you veterans may remember it as a place of ill repute and loose morals. This will no longer be the case. The Dawn of Darkness will be a haven for magic-related characters who have an unpleasant disposition and a lust for evil.

Here's a few guidlines for applying:

• Don't be a jerk.
• Respect other players' RP methods and ideas (see the above guideline).
• Please have good spelling and grammar. People appreciate this. Seriously. No netspeak or 'lol' or any of that stuff.
• We're not looking for angsty emo teen characters. This doesn't exclude teen characters; we just don't want the "no one understands me" crowd. That junk is old. Write a backstory and your problem's solved.
• Your character should have some sort of tie to magic. This means that even the most decorated military character can join up should he have sold his immortal soul for the ability to command others.
• Your character should be dynamic. There's enough stereotypical demons and you-name-it-omancers running around. Set yourself apart. Succubus? Roleplay beyond being a venus man-trap. Demon? Shy away from calling everyone "mortal", boasting about yourself and chasing tail. Magician? Don't talk like Emperor Palpatine and try not to run around in a cloak all day.
• We do not condone ERP. Whatever you do behind closed doors is your business. But we'd prefer it if our doors weren't the ones you're doing stuff behind. If you absolutely have to, please don't do it in the base.

I know that may seem a little restrictive, but we're looking to create a fertile RP environment with friendly people and the potential to branch into something grand with what may feel like a small story idea.

I also understand that the magic-themed RPVG status on Virtue is very, very quiet. I haven't found a home for my magic characters, so I'm making their home open to those who want a place of their own that isn't military, syndicated, mutant, or clique-ish.

That said, my global is @Insane V and I am willing to do in-game meetings as well as read posts for invites here.

If you want to apply for an invite (I'm pretty open, no strict regulations for invitation or application) just post your character name(s) and some brief backstory. 99 times out of 100 you'll be invited! The other 1 time is if your character has no ties to magic or something similar.

So, the Dawn of Darkness has risen once again and the doors are open for new members!

Character: Rashidi's Bane

Brief Background: Let's rewind a couple thousand years. Pharaoh strikes a bargain with Set to have his most trusted bodyguard protected by the sands of Egypt. The downside to the deal was that Set got to create an "equal and opposite" force to compete with the bodyguard. Set did this because he can't just give away those kind of powers for free and because chaos happens to be his favorite pastime. You know, the guy likes to kick back, have a few drinks and watch a city burn. Is that so bad?

Anyway, you're probably wondering why the Pharaoh would accept such a risky deal. There Pharaoh added his own caveat to the bargain: The "equal and opposite" would not be a threat so long as the Pharaoh and his sons sat on the throne.

Not long after the deal was made, the Pharaoh succumbed to disease and one of his more ambitious advisers usurped the son. Oops.

Remembered this thread while playing my newest corruptor. I'm not a HARDCORE!! rp'er, but I'm not entirely inexperienced at it. That said, assuming you're still open and rolling, I submit the Good Night Ghost.

Character: The Good Night Ghost, Sonic/Dark Corruptor

Brief Background: Once a simple spirit in the Netherworld, ferrying spirits from the mortal realm to his masters clutches, the Ghost was neither ambitious nor malevolent. He was simply doing his job.

That was until the night a cabal of sorcerers chose to assault the Ghost's master, waging battle across the planes. Souls in tow, and no one to give them to, curiosity overcame the simple creature. He feasted on one, and then another, and another, absorbing all of the power they held.

Before too long, the Ghost had taken to stalking the mortal realm for fresh souls, its appetite becoming insatiable. Journeying across the seas, he ran into Padre Henri and his companions in the Rogue Islands, who imprisoned the Ghost until a chance occurrence freed him hundreds of years later.
