Not really sure where the best place to put this is, so it's going here...

Following a very polite collaring in-game a few days ago by somebody asking about my (then legacy) chatlog parser I have taken literally several minutes to update it for i20 and also to publish the source. See the link in my sig for more information.

The goal behind this is twofold; firstly to allay the fears of those who thought I might be capturing all their chatlog data (I'm not, nothing is stored server-side, and based on past experience other people's conversations are pretty boring anyway ) and secondly in the hope that someone with more time, more skill and more time than me might make it better.

One of the problems I've come across is that a lot of the "newer" channels (Wentworths, Villain Zone Alerts - though oddly not Hero Zone Alerts) don't "tag" themselves like the others do, making it very hard to parse them out of the logs reliably without grabbing a lot of "noise" along with them - if anyone has any suggestions on how to capture them effectively I'd welcome it.

I have considered making it into a proper standalone application rather than web-hosted, but as it stands I simply don't have the time to dedicate to it at the moment, as much as I might like to. Again, anyone is welcome to take my existing (and pretty shoddy) code and use as a basis for something similar; attribution is all I ask.

Comments and (constructive) criticism are welcome. The largest log I've tested it with is ~7mb (largest I have to hand) but in principle there's no reason it can't handle much larger ones, subject to the limits of your browser's textarea support and my server's willingness to play ball .

Edit: OK, it's actually limited to 24Mb at the moment due to php's post_max_size directive; can always up it if there's a need though.
