NCLauncher stops responding when serching for CoH install

The NCLauncher takes quite a while to complete its search - give it 15 minutes to a half hour, depending on how recent your Mac may be.

I've had City of Heroes installed on my Mac (Late 2008 Unibody MacBook, Mac OS 10.6.7) previously, but haven't played it in a good while. I wanted to download the client again to start playing Going Rogue, and the NCLauncher tells me the game is already installed. I know I removed the app from my hard drive long ago, but I don't know if there were any miscellaneous files I didn't get rid of. When NCLauncher tries to search for the app (because I have no idea what it is talking about or where it could be) it stops responding. It's really frustrating because my account already has time on it again and I can't play.
