DB/Dark or /Inv?

I was playing around on Mids last night trying to decide what my next character to Build up will be.

I have a DB/Dark that is already 50 and has his T3 cardiac alpha. His build right now if almost entirely focused on Recovery because of the end heavy nature of dark, but because of his alpha I can respec into a S/L softcap build that I have planned out on Mids.

I have also been thinking about /Inv. I love Inv, (my first 50 was a WM/Inv tank thats been shelved because tanks are terrible and boring) but my current fire/inv is shelved because my fire/sd scrapper puts out way better dps. So last night I made a massively awesome ss/inv build (soft cap to S/L/E/N/F/C w/ only 1 in Invicible, but I had to use one pvp +3% def and I don't ever think any IO is worth 2 bil.) I have too many SS brutes aready so I am thinking going with a different primary maybe stone or claws.

NOT ASKING FOR BUILDS. I'm basically just looking for any thoughts on which to go with. Money isn't really an object, but I tend to mostly ignore purples and pvp IO's as not worth the money.

So I guess I should have put Farming in title to get anyone to reply.

My Fire/Inv brute puts out about 195dps prior to any Incarnate +dmg powers and is endo-sustainable.

It's not really fair to compare Inv to /Shield (especially for a Scrapper) as Shield gives massive +DMG (moreso on a scrapper). [For the same reason, Scappers get more milage out of Db's blinding feint or Claws' follow-up ... higher base dmg modifier).

What INV gives you -- esp on a Brute -- is significant survivability. Mine is def soft-capped to S/L/E/N (with 1 foe in melee range) and has 2600hp with perma-dullpain (before accolades), in addition to 70% S/L resists (that go up to 90% I think with Unstop due to tanker-level caps on Brutes). So I can take a hit from Maurader's Nova Fist and live, outside of Unstoppable.

So what is the question, again?

Basically I'm asking if I should respec the Dark brute or roll an invuln.

Assuming you don't actually want to farm, DB/Inv is a severely cool combination. My most-incarnated character at the moment is that in scrapper form. Cardiac alpha all the way both for the resistance and never having to worry about endurance, and aside from the new trials there are vanishingly few situations where you could ask for anything better survival-wise. Add destiny and interface and you're tough to even scratch, and judgement turns this relatively low aoe combo into a real stuff smasher.

BF->AV is definitely the way to go, as permaing DP will get you that chain easily as well. This also means you can skip hasten, which is nice. I didn't bother softcapping anything but s/l with a single target in range and it has never been much of an issue. Especially for a brute, if anything were giving you trouble, unstop cures what ails ya.

So yeah, give it a shot I say. Two great tastes that taste great together.

When you put it as reroll vs respec, though, bear in mind that DB/Inv is never going to do as much aoe damage as DB/Dark. They're good at different things.

Respec the /dark brute since it's already there at 50 and having done some Incarnate stuff. They will be different kinds of beasts, but if you are looking for something rather sturdy, I would only really look at Dark/inv. Not to say Stone and Claws are bad, they are two of my favorite sets, but the added heal on top of what /invul can do would be rather awesome.

Well it makes me feel about my own abilities good that Iggy's build looks very similar to the one I made.

After comments though it looks like I'm prob gonna respec the DB/Dark and also make a Claws/Inv scrapper on the side.

Claws/Inv is a good idea for a Scrapper for sure. Work in Aid Self and you up your survival a lot. My FM/INV has it.

There are some great /INV posts on the Scrapper forum. A lot driven by BassAckward's DM/INV godly build and then Nihili's inputs.

I was going to mention Iggy's DB/DA build but I see he beat me to it

The only thing that worries me about DB/DA is whether having Dark Regen on 13 sec recharge is too long ... Can the resists of DA hold up well enough on things like ITFs to survive 13 secs between heals?

I'm stuck with a similar dilemma pondering a DB/DA scrap or a X/INV scrap ... I may go KM/INV with Aid Self. Not sure if BF->AV chain will do more DPS on a Scrap than the standard KM chain. Anyone know?
