Broadsword/Fire Build

Lo there. I'm trying to build a Broadsword/Regen scrapper with a bit of defence from pools and as much regen as I can muster (Obviously, I want the +hp bonuses and +end). Attack power isn't a must here, though it's handy to have a bit to back me up with.

I have here the powers i've chosen. Could you guys perhaps tell me what modifications to make, and what slots to choose?

bs/fire =/= bs/regen? confusing title, wut?

*I say all this from personal experience, a long time ago I specced out my katana/regen for the absolute maximum amount of regen he could achieve without making him stupidly unplayable. That was fine. Then I came here (scrapper forum) and learned about how awesome defense and recharge are (Thank you Umbral, wherever you may be these days). Now I try and keep people from making the same mistakes I did.

I'm not sure as to your reasons, but I dare to guess you're thinking speccing for more regen is going to be a good idea for general pve gameplay.
This is wholly incorrect.

(Tornado sirens going off outside my window, awesome!)
anyway...

I promise. You really don't.

You don't want to build for more regen on a regen, the benefit is practically nonexistent. Build for recharge, recharge, defense, moar recharge.
With enough recharge (55% in sets and hasten), you can have dull pain permanent, which, with accolades, will bring you to hp cap. That means all those hp sets you wanted would go to waste.

Body mastery is wasted on a regen. You don't need the extra regen/recovery, FA is pretty much the suck compared to tactics (and you're getting maneuvers, so it's not like it's an extra power pick to get tactics), and you should never need Conserve Power. you'd be better off picking up Soul or Leviathan mastery for more mitigation.

with a sword/regen build, you can typically get to a bit over 20% defense to ranged and AoE, while also having enough defense for 1 parry to bring you to (or over) softcap (45%) to melee - all while packing a large bag of recharge for your attacks and clickies.

I'm not sure what you mean by this, other than, "I don't feel the need to slot my attacks," which anyone here would obviously disagree.
You're a scrapper. You kill things. Damage is your job.

Enhancement Diversification means that you can only modify a power to 100%; in practical terms, that's 3 Single Origin enhancements. Six-slotting passives should not be worth it, and certainly not at the expense of attacks.

So, six-slot attacks (Crushing Impact is a great set, and mostly cheap for +HP) work on global recharge with Luck of the Gambler +rech in weave, maneuvers, moment of glory, and consider picking up combat jumping for it's maneuvers-size bump to Defense at a fraction of the end cost.

Your power choices, aside from afore-mentioned CJ, look pretty solid.

Hm...Looks about right...Could you guys gimme a hand then? With the power mod explained by Dragon and the enhancement choices explained by Elegost. I try real hard to slot things in my builder but it's...Fiddly. :|

yeehaw, severe weather alert in the area until *thunder booms*... sometime.

Here's a build that has what we're talking about, I don't know how familiar you are with any level of building, however, so a lot of this might not make much sense... You'll have to let us know how much of this you really understand :]

*Note: This was not made with an attack chain or budget in mind. It was made using non-pvp/purple IOs and is only to demonstrate some of the values that can be achieved without going to such financial extremes.

gah that thunder is loud... I should probably get off the compy o.O

Anyway, as you should be able to see, the build has about 25% range and AoE defense, and 1 parry gets you over 45% to melee (If you don't know much about defense, ask, we can explain that too).

You can see the recharge on dull pain is less than its duration ~ Perma-hp-cap.
Regen might look a little low at only 53hp/sec, but that's just one of your tricks. Regen is more about your reaction time and being smart about using your clickies, rather than just having super levels of passive regen (although, I kind of wish it was a better mix of both. regen buff in i21 plzkthx).

net recovery is 3.92e/s - 1.2e/s = 2.7e/s, plus you have 2 performance shifter procs that are (mathematically) the equivalent of +.2e/s, so your net recovery is about 3.1e/s, which is almost definitely enough, even for a Broadsword (this is why you don't need Physical Perfection).

I don't understand much of the last couple of parts of what you said, but i'm sure it's all legit. xP
I do prefer to keep a passive regen as i'm not the best with timing (I have to fight with some lag. I'm on a netbook). However, I will persevere!
I'm going to stick Dull Pain on an autocast due to the easy recharge times there. I'll save the info and see what little changes I can make should any problems arise. Thank you very much for your help.

If you want Passive, you might be better served with Willpower. Willpower is likely the best fire and forget set you could get. There are plenty of Kat/Will and BS/Will builds floating around to give you a good starting point. Willpower will likely be more economical to IO as well. Regen needs recharge, recharge, defense, and more recharge. Recharge is likely the single most expensive thing you can build for, with defense being fairly cheap. A Willpower build will be Defense, Regen, Health, and Defense; all much cheaper.

I don't play Broadsword, but if I was looking for a BS/Regen build I would start with a good Kat/Regen build and swap in BS.
It won't be a perfect fit, but it should be a good start.
Then Strip the Purples and PvPs and replace them with Defense or Recharge sets until you get the balance you prefer.
After that, you'll need some BS experts to help with the better offensive attack chain. I don't have any BS chains at all calculated.

Something Like:

Fumiki G1 (Modified to BS) (Build Link)
Cheaper Version (Build Link)

Fumiki G2 (Modified to BS) (Build Link)

Werner (Modified to BS) (Build Link)

The attack chain thing is too pro for me. I don't want to follow a strict pattern; I want to do it the FUN way and use what I reckon's about right at the time.
Meaning I have no idea. xD
