WP tanker, Spiritual or Cardiac?

For a Willpower tank, and looking at boosting survivability, would spiritual or cardiac alpha boosts work out? Cardiac has extra dam res, and spiritual has extra heal for regen. Granted I don't need the end reduction in Cardiac, but am looking at the extra dam res.

Currently my WP tank has T4 Musculature, the one with the end mod and to hit debuff.

Or should I just go for Nerve and the extra defense?

What are your thoughts?

I love the Nerve for WP (and for tankers in general, tbh). The extra cushion on defense is very useful on a character with low DDR. I built around the +Acc and was therefore able to prioritize slotting so that I was accuracy capped vs +4s while not needing a lot of Accuracy slotting. Finally, the taunt component in Nerve is great for all tankers, but especially useful on a Willpower, since the taunt aura is weaker than other sets.

The Spiritual can add a good chunk to your offense and can get you more HPs and regen, so it is a good add. I am less thrilled with Cardiac and would avoid it except in a concept build.

Why Blasters? Empathy Sucks.
So, you want to be Mental?
What the hell? Let's buff defenders.
Tactics are for those who do not have a big enough hammer. Wisdom is knowing how big your hammer is.

Without seeing a build, it is hard to say which will give you better survivability, if that is what you are after.

Mids' does most of the math for you. Select one of the Alpha boosts in Mids', then use a survivability analysis spreadsheet (linked in that post) to find out which makes you harder to kill.

The extra defense from Nerve isn't likely to help you unless you are close to the soft cap.

I'll check w/my WP/SS tanker in Mids' w/already capped S/L def, whose Alpha slot I just happened to unlock this past week and has yet to decide himself which tree to take.

Nerve will actually give me capped E/N; from 41.6->45%. That's actually significant. Being SS, w/Rage, +acc is wasted. S/L goes over cap, but that's nice for Incarnate level stuff anyway, and to have a buffer for debuffs.

Cardiac boosts my S/L from 70.1->76.9%, also significant. Gives me an extra 4% of psi resists too. The rest are insignificant unless I pop SoW, in which case Card gives m about 3% more for the exotics. WP doesn't really need the end, but if I'm spamming FS all day, I do occasionally need a blue pill, esp w/Rage crashes.

Spiritual gives me about 50 more HPs, and 76.6->85.8 HP/Sec regen w/1 in range of RTTC. However, if it's fully saturated at 10 mobs (not exactly rare for a tank), the regen goes from 127->144 HP/Sec. Plus faster FS, more Rage to stack, etc.

Musc will give me bigger Judgment nukes come I20. Otherwise, very meh.

So I initially thought Spiritual was a no brainer for WP, much like w/Regen (who needs recharge for survival as well), but it looks like either Cardiac or Nerve are valid choices. My current direction for my WP tank is capping his HPs, for which Spiritual is best, and those regen #s will just go up as my base HPs rise. So, I'm still going Spiritual, but you can make good arguments for any direction.

I'd say Spiritual. You get extra recharge for your attacks, more hit points and better regen. Keep a couple purples around if you're worried about a few points of defense here or there. Hit points and regeneration are the backbone of WP's survivability.

Eh, defense doesn't hurt, And i went lethal/smash resistance, with enough defense to make things miss me more often then they hit, and enough regen to survive. Willpower is around well rounded mitigation, not just 1 pure thing.

Yeah, I have tons of defense with Weave, Combat Jumping as well as Maneuvers in addition to the other normal defense powers found in Willpower.

I had been leaning towards Spiritual for the extra regen and of course attack recharge. I had wanted to know if the dam res from Cardiac was worth it for a WP tank. My Inv tank has Cardiac and loves it.
