This thread is for a friend who needs help building his Elec-Fire Brute. I will be editing the first post as needed rather than making a ton of replies to myself for every update. Everyone can see the build this way, feel free to post your responses and/or suggestions on the build if you want. Two heads are better than one, or something... though I can't guarantee I'll implement anything posted here.

EDIT: With powersets like Elec Melee and Firey Aura, I thought it would be pretty obvious this build was for farming. If it wasn't inherently obvious, the power choices in the build REALLY give it away.


Here it is, I went ahead and enabled all the HP/END Accolades and picked a tier4 Cardiac for the build.

You might want to start out by defining what exactly you want the build to do. There is no one size fits all for IO builds.

Taking a quick look at the build in mid leaves me feeling it has much to be improved. It doesn't have particularly good recharge nor defenses, yet still employs some of the most expensive sets in the game. It also has some questionable slotting such as the proc in blazing aura(auras can only pop a proc every 10 sec, making them poor homes for procs) and also 4 slots in stamina is more than is necessary.

I would come up with a counter proposal build, but once again, I would need to know what the general aim of the build is.

I guess I am really hopeless then. Maxing out the recov in stamina with 3 performance shifters or efficacy adapters (situational if you have too many 2.5% recov bonuses) means you need the 4th slot for the performance shifter proc, which is one of the most important IO's in most builds. I am pretty sure that if you plan to use a proc in stamina it will always be 4 slotted, there's little to gain from slotting it more and a lot to lose from slotting it less.

Also, not always do you need to gimp a build to hit 180% recharge or soft cap defenses. Getting defense where it is convinient and efficient, and doing likewise for recharge will get you a build that performs well at all times. A super defensive slotting leaves a lot lacking in recharge and dmg procs usually, which is counterproductive to farming. Likewise, a mass recharge build is often too squishy and relies on outside support, always needing lots of purple insps or requiring a body to Perma-Venge off of; Both usable strategies but not ones that I like myself or would recommend. An efficient well rounded build will function without relying on defense buffs and still pump out effective damage.

Finally if I could take the damage procs out of Blazing Aura and add them to my attacks WHILE STILL RETAINING the excellent set bonuses, then I would. Unfortunately I cannot 7 or 8 slot my powers, and thus adding damage procs into my damage aura to increase AoE DPS is the only option I have for them. I can understand possible arguments against the purple proc in Blazing Aura, but I want the set in Lightning Rod seeing as it is the shining power of Elec Melee, and I feel Lightning Rod is far too slow to warrant dmg procs. With a Cardiac helping on end costs it is feasible to move the 5 piece Armageddon (including the proc) into Blazing Aura and keep a second proc in the 6th slot; This allows you to slot Lightning Rod with another Oblit set for more defense. This setup is only better after you get the Cardiac, and is also more expensive inf-wise.
