This came up at the Bay Area Meet and Greet. From what I gathered, while we loved the Herocon, it wasn't exactly a money-making venture on their part, and may even been very costly; that was a lot of hotel space. They asked us how much we would pay for a Herocon, and when they noticed that there were still a lot of hands in the air when they said "$100", I think they were surprised.

I think we may see another Herocon, but it'll be more expensive than the last. How much was that one? $40? $50? I don't remember. I'd bet the next one would be two or three times the cost of the last, and they will probably gauge interest before they go that way.

Never argue with stupid people. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

2009 herocon was around 90.00 just for access to the con for 4 days.... there were also packages you could buy. all very reasonable

I was surprised the hands were still up as well. At $100 I'll still likely go, specially if it is a 3 day even and not one day like the first hero con.

I thought the first one was just a one-day event, and the second one got bumped to two days. Seems like I always read that people wished it were longer. Are you counting just being at the hotel the day before and the day after, when there are people still hanging around but nothing scheduled?

Loose --> not tight.
Lose --> Did not win, misplace, cannot find, subtract.
One extra 'o' makes a big difference.

incorrect...herocon 2009 was actually 4 days, (3 days offical) Thurs, Fri, Sat, Sun.... and the official events were fri-sat-sun, but they did open it thursday actually, just nothing major took place

Any word what is going on this year?

Posted

Well, they've already started rounds on various cons this year.

So I'm expecting no HeroCon.

Honestly, if they were going to do it, I'd ask for one thing. A LOT OF LEAD TIME. With all the previous HeroCons, the lead time on them was a few months. Unfortunately I can't work with those timeframes. Especially for a jaunt from Chicago to the left coast. Heck, even MIDWEST cons I go to are planned and budgeted for almost a full year in advance.

One other thing, this year, I hope they finally hit a Midwest con. There were members of Paragon at GenCon last year. But not in an official "we're doing something" capacity.

I know, I know. The coastal cons are easier for them to get to. Yadda yadda yadda. It's still acting as if nobody in the corn belt actually gets away from their plowing to game.

Clicking on the linked image above will take you off the City of Heroes site. However, the guides will be linked back here.
