Partner for a Brute...

Me and a friend recently got Going Rogue and back into the whole City-life again, and after a few different OO GUNS and OO KINETIC MELEES we're getting down to making our real characters. He decided on a Super Strength because of the new animation, and Invuln I think, Brute, and I made a Demons/Thermal Mastermind.

In practice I'm finding that I move far too slow to keep up with his amazing pace! Asking him to tone it down's lame too given Brute's inherent. As such, I'm in the market to switch to something more suitable. (As a totally unrelated aside, AMAZING WORK WITH THE MASTERMIND PETS, ONE BUFF FOR ALL AND THEY ZONE WITH ME !$*!@(*&!% I LOVE IT SO MUCH)

I've looked at a few different Defenders, and Empathy and Kinetic both stand out for obvious reasons. Something about Traps is appealing to me as well; it's so WEIRD for Defender and I like that. How is Traps/Sonic Defender?

The other thing I'm looking at is a Fire/Thermal Corr, it's convenient cause I can simply reuse my Demon/Thermal's concept.

I'm open to other ideas too, if anyone has experience duoing extensively with a Brute, I'm all ears. I've never played support to a very high level before, so this is all kinda new to me. Up til now I've just had solo Masterminds and Scrappers haha. We plan to join big parties now and then too, but the strength of the duo is a top priority for me.

Another Brute. At least that's what I'd do.

Incidentally, Brute Fury no longer decays as fast as it used to. It now takes five seconds for it to even start dropping after a fight, and it builds up much faster, as well. You can't get it much about 75 points, though.

As for a Demon/Thermal Mastermind... What's stopping you from keeping up? There ought to be few things that can phase a Mastermind.

What Sam said on mm's, my wife runs a ss/wp brute and I run a bots/ff mm and she has to keep up with me.

We also switch support/melee roles on our alts too, I run corrs or trollers with her brutes, and vice versa for me.

Right now we are running a ele/sd brute and a ice/thermal troller and we are steam rolling through mishes. But then again she has made emp's and kins and with support a brute can plow through just about anything.

One thing of note we have learned, debuff's/buff's are great but you have to have some holds/attacks also or you will just get bored with the toon quick. GL

Wait a few levels and it will be reversed.
Once you got all demons, they have the tendency to simply bullrush most enemies. And the big one´s frost-thingy stops them from fighting back.
From then on it´s just hitting Tab quite often to keep them focussed on one mob at a time.

My personal suggestion would be a Fire/Son Corruptor. Fire Blast's very fun and active and will nicely compliment the mostly ST nature of Super Strength until the higher levels. Sonic's buffs and debuffs compliment a Brute really well, especially an Invuln (You get an AoE -res toggle which anchors on an ally and is awesome).

I am the Blaster, I have filled the role of Tank, Controller and Defender
Sometimes all at once.

I find a Spanyard, especially one in the revenge business, often makes a fine partner for a brute.
