Mind/FF Team Build

This is a Mind project(please pardon the lame pun). I am currently leveling a mind/FF troller. Lord Mesmer is level 35 atm. I have taken every Mind power so far in efforts to see which I enjoy playing. I am loving the toon. The build enclosed reflects what I think could be a purely team oriented build. I designed it for running TFs and other high level story arcs. The idea is to be able to lock stuff down and keep it that way while being able to pump out a decent ST attack chain. In addition I want to make the rest of the team as powerful and durable as possible. Have I achieved my goal? Are there other "better" goals for a team oriented build? I lend my ear to you.

3 days no reply.....That bad eh?

Sorry, took me a little while to work my way to it.

Overall, not a bad build, although I feel like you could capitalize a bit more on Force Field's +Defense.

Personally, I would consider dropping:
- Air Superiority
- Fly (use a Jet Pack unless this is concept)
- Assault
- Vengeance
- Tactics (mostly due to overall endurance costs altho this one IOs well)

Replace with:
- Super Speed - for the invisibility with a Stealth IO
- Boxing
- Tough
- Weave
- Combat Jumping (this one is option, but is basically endurance-free extra defense--can swap with Hover for flavor if you wish)

I would aim to at least cap Ranged Defense as a starting point. D Bubble + Weave + 3% Def IO + Manuevers = about 29.5% defense to everything to start out. That means to cap any category for yourself you only need to find an additional 15% defense--fairly simple to do.

Here is a partly built sample of how I have built Mind/FF on the boards in the past. Note that as with most builds, you could make this better by spending a lot of money on purple damage sets. In Terrify in particular it would result in only needing 5 slots instead of 6. I would definitely keep the knockdown proc there though because I have found it quite awesome for knocking enemies down to prevent them from retaliating or running like they normally can from unprocced Terrify.

Here is my build. The focus on this one is to be above the soft cap for rane and within one purple of capping S/L.

The recharge is at 146% w/out any alpha influences and the endurance is extremely manageable.

The play style is to use force bubble to keep everything at range and, since you are soft capped to range, you're taking very little damage unless you're facing pretty stiff competition. IF anything slips through the bubble, a quick shot of force bolt pushes them right back out.

Your pet can help and draw a distraction if needed and you have the buffs and heal for your pet. The recharge w/out alpha influence is so that your pet is near perma. I forget the number but it seems like there is about a 20-30 second gap.

I've played with the APP/PP types and Oedipus can tell you about how nice primal is. Ice is a lot of fun and I'm looking at some of the others just because I have the respecs and haven't played them before. I took the tarantula pet for mine just because I had this idea in my head for concept.

This is the type of toon that you will enjoy if you like being the "calm" in the eye of the hurricane. You won't be the guy frenetically going toe to toe with the AV, but You can really just mosey through and never be in any danger if you pay attention; stopping every once in a while to show your friends how you can confuse AVs to beat on one another, etc. You can definitely do stealthy/clicky missions easily and running tips is a breeze by yourself.

Real fun toon. Maybe you see something that you can use for yours.

Thanks guys. I really appreciate the adjusted builds. This is the first toon I have really fallen in love with in a while. So any help I get is greatly appreciated. I have not got a chance to really look at these builds yet. I am firing this off rather quickly before I have to jet. I will post a better reply when I get home tonight or tomorrow morning.

If you love the toon, why change it?

But if you're determined, I'd say your build looks decent as is. I'd agree with Oedipus_Tex that you may want to consider super speed rather than Air Superiority/Fly. But not for the reason he gave. You don't need stealth on an FFer, just use PFF. But taking super speed will free up a slot to take aid other. You could also drop vengeance and take aid self.

With those two small heals combine with Mind's control and FF's protection you go a long way to being able to really turn around a struggling team, or to just pitch in healing from time to time when the healer is distracted.

That combo is just seriously sick, and is a perversion of gameplay mechanics. - Excelsio

Thats not the current build. heh Its just a planned build. The actual toon is only level 40. I love the powers. I love the playstyle. Now trying to get the most mileage out if possible.
