Escort Not Working Right

I'm working on an arc with an escort to lead the players to something, but the map indicator and placement of the "X marks the spot" vs. where the object really is isn't working.

What happens is I get the escort to follow me and I go where the map indicates the target is and... it's not actually there. It is usually close enough to see, but.

The escort was originally set to betray once the player arrived, so I changed it back to just a follower in case that was part of the problem but that didn't help (the escort never betrayed at the misdirected map target anyway).

Is this a failure of the map perhaps, maybe some maps don't handle it well or something? If it helps, I'm using Croatoa 02.

This is my first time playing around with setting an escort so maybe there's something I'm missing???

Yeah, targeting, especially on outdoor maps, can be a little hit and miss. I've noticed that some canon outdoor maps with in-game objective pointers behave the same way, like the last mission of TV's Nemesis arc.

My guess is that it's pointing to where the objective should go but the spawn engine nudges it because it doesn't fit the terrain well.
