Constant Crashes... ack!

I have a 2010 MacBook i7 with 8GB RAM. I just purchased this game from Steam but I run it from the native client, not through Steam.

So far I'm enjoying the game. But the next time I am near completion of a long mission and I turn a corner *crash*, relog only to find that I'm outside, and my mission has reset, I'm done with it. Has happened to me twice in the same mission when I'm near the final boss... pissed off atm.

I see that it runs in Cider, but the QA team must have stamped this with "good enough"

I can't recall at this moment, but it was a level 17 mission where I look around for supply crates and beat a leader. I find a blinking crate, turn around to look for bad guys and *crash*

The mission is called "Recover Supplies from the Syndicate"

Sorry, I just finished it fine... don't remember the contact.

The point is, the crashes happen very frequently and aren't necessarily tied with any mission. I could be outside and panning my camera around and it may just dump.

I have symptoms similar to yours, and when I read the main Mac help thread and I got this from Cuppamagna:

Quote:
A Word About Geometry Buffers

It is recommended at this time that you turn of the Geometry Buffers feature, as that seems to cause an excess of Video RAM allocations, which creates lag in certain areas such as Supergroup Bases, Arachnos Maps, and the Rikti Warzone base. There is an issue which may cause a crash in RWZ base if you have Geometry Buffers turned off -
the issue has been made know to the game developers and will hopefully be resolved soon.
Except in my case, like yours, I'd turn a corner, it would lag every time and frequently crash. I made the change and it hasn't crashed since. Hopefully the devs will switch it to off by default for mac users sometime soon. I found it very offputting.

Thanks, that helped a lot. I still crash a little bit, but not as much.
