Can you remove the backpack once you select it?

You are a Crab Spider.. the backpack is not an option its a requirements (unfortunately). A while back someone posted that they'd found a way to create a costume without one and I raced to the tailor. It actually did work and I left with a brand new outfit minus 4 extra mechanical arms. Then I zones and when I arrived in the new zone .. POOOOOF it was back. As far as I know there is no way to take it off. Now you do have dual builds so you could create a 2nd build where you pick Bane powers and not crab and then all you'd have to do to go packless is switch builds.

That is incorrect. If you have *any* crab powers in either build, the BOTH builds have the backpack. Part of the problem is that the backpack is a weird, "not really" costume item - it's actually a weapon option, like the equally unchangeable Blood Widow claws. In this case, it's a weapon that happens to take up the Back slot in your costume. Since there is no way to link costumes to builds at the moment, there's no way to have a separate option. And once the backpack shows up, it simply erases whatever was in that slot - the game apparently isn't coded to "remember" what was there before the backpack took over.
Also, I'm pretty sure that there's a known issue that if you take Crab powers and then later totally respec out of them, on every build, the backpack still remains. If that is correct, then once you go Crab, you can't go back.

So this is my first Spider and I made a crab with my 1st build and a bane with my 2nd. When I go to the tailor I can't seem to remove my backpack. Even when I click on back detail and select "none" I still have the crab leg backpack on. Is there a way to remove this or am I stuck with it from now on?
