Drivers not updated?

So much for a first post.

I'm sure you guys have gotten this question numerous times but this seems new to me. After downloading Windows 7, I've been experiencing some problems. At the log in screen, my CoH shows wavy black lines that move downward (which I can't screenshot since it ends up completely black). The bottom notice said something along the lines of "IMPORTANT: Your computer seems to be using older drivers for your video card," which made be go to that driver guide within this section.

Before you ask, yes I have updated my drivers through that NVIDIA site and I've redownloaded CoH. Attached is a picture of my computer specs.

For the record, I've been playing CoH for a little more than a year without a problem on Windows XP. This is the first time I've tried to play it on Windows 7.

A few thoughts:

- Make sure you're not running Windows Blinds or any other special screensaver program
- Try running the program as Administrator

CohHelper and HijackThis will be more telling and folks should then be able to point you in the proper direction.

You sure you updated the drivers? Yours are 2 years old. It's quite possible you installed new drivers over the old ones instead of uninstalling completely. I'd be really surprised if the latest drivers were back in January of 2009.

Yeah that confused me when I saw my post. I've been trying to update via the NVIDA site and it looks as if the program works. It goes through all the motions and even successfully restarts. If it isn't working, is there anything to remedy it?

Uninstall the current drivers then run a driver cleaner program. Once that's done, reboot and install the latest drivers from NVIDIA. I'm not sure what program you're using on the site but the most straightforward method is to download the drivers from their site and run the install after making sure the old drivers are uninstalled.

Go to the NVidia "Download Drivers" page here:

Use Option 1 and fill it out as below:

Product Type: GeForce

Product: GeForce 7950 GT
Operating System: Windows 7 64-bit

Click the green "SEARCH" button and you should see the "GEFORCE/ION DRIVER RELEASE 260". Download and run the file.

If it still shows up as the old driver version, try uninstalling the old drivers, rebooting, and running a driver cleaner (like Driver Sweeper http://www.guru3d.com/category/driversweeper/) before re-installing the drivers.

Sorry for the late reply. At this point, I've uninstalled my drivers and cleaned it but now the problem is that the NVIDIA installers don't detect the drivers. Did I do something wrong?

I've managed to download and install NVIDIA GeForce Go 7950 GTX after uninstalling and cleaning but CoHHelper still says this:

Ah, I missed that it is a GeForce Go series. Try this:

It looks like version 7.15.11.7948 (Release 179.48) is the latest version available for your hardware.

Have you tried the game's safe mode?

I have the exact same problem. laptop with the Go 7950 GTX and the game is unplayable any any resolution from 800x600 through 1920x1200 and all for the same reason. it's like the game looses video sync and you get black wavy lines that show up and disappear. If I try windowed mode nothing is displayed except a black or blank window.
