How much def will nerve alpha add?
take each of you def powers, throw 5 def IOs in them
subtract your build's current total for that power
repeat til you get all the powers done
add the difference from all of them to your current build's totals
or something simpler that someone else posts
The simple answer is, it depends.
How much you get out of an alpha slot relies on how many powers, and how much it's slotted. For the defense portion, it will give you an SO of defense for each defensive power and get EDed. If you are EDed already, it might give you something like 1-2% enhance. Which, if it gives, let's say 12% defense, that 1% extra will be something like .12% extra defense from the power itself (not a whole lot). THEN it will give you the unEDed portion, which for defense, would be an extra 5% defense buff to each defense power. So if its at 99%, you would see it get somewhere in the range of 105%.
This is all theoretical, and I could be wrong, but that is how I understand it at this time. Think of it as extra enhancements in each slot. It's not a Global Bonus, like IOs are. It applies to each power that can be slotted.
Your character does not have capped defense. Depending on your AT the cap is between 175% - 225%. Your defense is not teal in the combat window, it can go higher. STOP SAYING IT IS CAPPED! The correct term is Soft Cap.
I enjoy playing in Mids. I specialize in Melee Characters, other AT's usually bore me.
Well, seeing as you only have three powers that grant +def, and they are not granting a lot, the alpha slot isn't going to help you out much. It will not affect your set bonuses, only the defense you gain from (in your case) maneuvers, combat jumping and weave. So, uh, 13.2% of 7.9... carry the two... you will gain a whopping total of 1.04% defense, or somewhere in that neighborhood.
edit: this assumes your powers are already slotted to ED cap for defense.
So on my elec/elec brute im trying to see if i can hit 45 s/l def, so far i can get a hair under 42%. my question is how much def will the nerve alpha slot add to it?
Someone that is better at doing the math than me might be able to tell me if i will hit 45 s/l. keep in mind the top tier will be 2/3 unaffected by ED, so im planning on that, not too worried about the lower tier alphas.
I'm taking the alpha that has 45% acc,20%def buff. Any help is appreciated.
Heres build so you can see any numbers that you might need.
