Perma-Dom Electric

Now, I have seen with my own eyes the crazy effectiveness of a perma-dom (a Mind/Mind to be precise) but my question is how effective is an Elec-Dom that is perma outside of being able to ST hold an AV? I mean, thats still pretty nasty but I was curious. Do we have any forum-goers that have done so? Would it be better to build up on my +Def and +Dmg or shoul I still shoot for the PermaDom status? Also, since I have yet to enter OB and I will prolly wait for the live patch can anyone tell me the effects of the Alpha Slot on a dom? Anyone know if the rechange one affects domination?

Perma-dom has several perks:

  • Permanent boss-level mez on direct controls (more on this later)
  • Permanent status protection
  • High recharge=lots of powers easy to access (Controls, especially good ones, tend to have long recharge times)
  • Frequent endurance bar refills
Elec/doms get a lot of these, but the first item is where it's tricky. Your sleep patch is not your dominator. As such, hittting domination does nothing for its mez power. It's a 'pet' that does its own thing. Your chain induction likewise has no domination benefit. Or conductive aura. Your synaptic overload is only changed on the initial hit- something in its power stops there.

An Elec/ perma-dom has the other perks, but the control is a lot less obvious in its change. Mind/ control is ALL direct (excluding levitate) mez, so the percs of the extra mez mag/duration stand out more. Electric control is a good set, but more about lots of 'weak' controls adding up to total debilitation. As such domination's up front "BAM! You're going nowhere!" gets less mileage.

First of all Seldom... your avatar is creeping right the ---- out dude!

Secondly, yea, I almost forgot about all those benefits too. I see what you mean and thanks for correcting my flawing thinking of synaptic overload by the way. Seems like overall it still worth it (if only for the mez protection and end fills between mobs)

Thanks for the advice dude

Also, with the appropriate powers in i19 on a Elec/Elec dom, you can permaHasten, permaDom, and softcap Smashing/Lethal Defense.

Edit: Added i19 as that's how I've got it built in Mids and needs a small respec for next issue.

Pay attention to what happens when you use Synaptic Overload. You use it on your target; if you miss, that's it. If you hit, it applies the Confuse -- with any Domination or Power Boost bonus -- on that target, then drops a pseudo-pet -- you'll see it as a blue glow at the feet of your target -- and the pseudo-pet starts throwing Confuse at the nearby targets, without inheriting the Domination or Power Boost effects. If you watch closely, you'll notice that the electric bolt for the subsequent targets comes from the glow at your first target's feet, not from your target itself.
